So, when a driverless car runs a red light, who gets the ticket? The owner? The manufacturer? The software company?

The person sitting in the drivers seat is always responsable for what the car does, to include malfunction.

As an example, if your are coming to a stop light and a your brakes fail causing you to hit a pedestrian or another car, you are responsable for the wreck.

You are supposed to ensure that your vehicle is functioning in a safe manner and in proper repair before driving it on a public road.
I dont see how a computer malfunction would be any different from a physical malfunction in this sense.

    What? Those things were indestructible.
We had one when I was growing-up, and I was one of five kids (I'm the middle one).
That thing got soda, tea, watar, coffie, and countless other liquids spilt in it.
It was hit, droped, and even thrown agenst the wall after I was still coding an hour after my dad said to shut it off. And yes it still works.

I got ahold of multiple other mechines after that and the most repairs any of them needed was to replace a missing key(C64) and re-solder the resset button(C128)

If you managed to break two of these things I'd hate to see how many cell phones you go through per week

video looks excelent out of the box (slackware 11) and the fglrx installer is dead simple to run if you need it.

Want that RAID controller to work gotta recompile the kernel.

This has nothing to do with consumer desktop installations.
anyone doing this type of work shouldnt have a problem compiling the kernel.

Need x software.... oh crap there is no .rpm or .deb you'll have to compile from source.

most major distros maintain a repository of common packages and have built-in package managment systems.
If the package you need isnt available from your distro all you have to do to is su, configure, make, and make install.

In base , the digits 0, 1, ..., are used (where, by convention, for bases larger than 10, the symbols A, B, C, ... are generally used as symbols representing the decimal numbers 10, 11, 12, ...).
