"Alice took an extra ten minutes on her lunch break"

Could you explain how having Illegal material that sexually exploits children, has nothing to do with your work productivity, and is a federal crime has anything to do with extended lunch breaks?

I think you may be on to something here.

  2. Computer stores. on Blow the Whistle, Lose Your Job? · · Score: 1

I know a few people who work for a computer store that upgrade and fix peoples computers.

I have been told stories about people having full kiddy porn themes on their windows machines, or gigabits of kiddy porn fully available and in view of the people working on the systems.

Their company policy is if any child porn is found on the machine, to hand over all information about the person and the machine to the police, and they take care of the rest.

You're a janitor and you find a bag of crack in a desk where you work. Or theirs a meth lab in the apartment building you manage.

Its illegal. It's that simple. These problems are not as simple as someone stealing office supplies. These are real life situations where someone could get hurt.

If that's not enough, then how about the bandwidth used by this person, or the storage used to hold them. Their both property of the collage, and the collage could have been held responsible for the photographs.

  4. Microsoft arcade machines. on Sega Cancels Merger With Sammy · · Score: 1

For a while Sega joined the few who were putting out arcade machines. Many people thought that arcade games were dieing out. But their coming back hard. I could see many new systems showing up, like the Merit Megatouch systems. Only with Microsofts name on them.

Now games on the Xbox, fine I can deal with that. But it would be strange to see Microsoft throwing their arcade machines around.

I own a company that places public internet machines around minnesota.

In one location their was this couple that would come in everyday. They would browse the web and sign up for everything and anything they could find that was free.

Finally one day I told them one day they won't recive anything that they ordered because they were all scams. Everything from cook books to free tshirts. They told me they didnt care because they just loved the idea of trying to win free stuff, or have mail sent to them to read.

Side note: I checked their email account that was disabled and it had 600megs of emails over 6 months.

Text messaging is great for many things. Messaging people is not one of them. We have a rather large network of public Internet terminals and payphones. Each machine sends logs every 2 hours saying how much money they have made, and if theirs a problem, such as a unexpected reboot, money jam, etc.

Its pretty useful, and everyone around me knows that my computers "are always talking to me"
