it just sux for a game studio. From my experience anyone working from home on a game project becomes out of the loop and to get a game done on time requires easy communication. Getting up and talking to someone about something in the office increases productivity so much. My friend once worked for a startup that was connecting on the internets only and that failed. some of the programmers were in completely different time zones and that took a drain on the project and communication was terrible. So until we can have star wars holograms or a holosuite at home to simulate everyone being at the office together i think telecommuting sux for a studio. Oooh with a holosuite the office wont have to look sucky. No cubicles and everyone can enjoy some sort of awesome view or something.
The capitalist mentality has soured the hearts of people everywhere. Where free cant be free. Where payment somehow "protects" you from spyware and adware because obviously "if they charge for it then they dont need ad money". The last true humanitarians in this world are OSS developers. Sad I say. Poor world.

I think because most people dont take the time to think they need to generalize. So OSS people and software pirates might be construed as the same or similar group because all everyone hears is free software not open software. and free means you are a pirate because what kind of person wouldnt want to sell the fruits of their labor! dude, If you run Ubuntu 7.04 now and drop Beryl on that you will notice that your world gets rocked. Linux is just as good as windows(and with Beryl its beautiful). I showed Ubuntu to my mom and she was like "put that on my computer" and i was like its easy just pop this disc in and press install! It really is that easy. LiveCD makes life easy for Linux. The only problem with Linux is 1) too many distros. If everyone working on Linux focused on to maybe 5 major distros a lot more work would get done. and 2) marketing. MS goes out in the world and tells people why they need windows and how wonderful their life will be with the power of windows or some shit like that. The only good press about Linux is on the internets. I wanna see tv ads showing me a better life with the magical powers of Linux! and 3) games. This will change when game developers support the platform which means more people need to HAVE the platform. When everyone that uses Linux is sad that game developers don't really support their platform they need to realize that its not because developers don't wanna support Linux. Money talks to them as they are businesses. More user base = more support. Simple as that. So once Linux gets the user base the games will come and we can fly on magical unicorns and shit into the sunset. Support the new OLPC - One Linux for every PC.

Sure, he did something that could have gotten him fired (and did) and there is really no defense for him but you know I have been a fan of his comic stuff for a while now so lets just say that he didn't deserve it really, and that people are dicks and/or dumb.
If the govt is smart (i.e. about their self interests) they will not let it get much worse. Maybe a bit more but not too bad. If it gets really out of hand then I believe people will revolt or something like that. Imagine what this country would be like if that happened! crazy man.
that fact is still that pretty much everyone in the studio knew that they were ripping, erh sorry , "homaging" (is that even a word?) Kimba. Basically everyone (including myself) thats pissed off is as such because Disney refused to publicly recognise that Kimba was a huge influence. I mean sure they ripped it shot for shot, but if they just put a caption in the beginning of the film "In memory of Osamu Tezuka" or something to that effect then i am sure everyone would have been ok. But we all know that Disney is inthe business of killing people to protect their "IP". Especially, it seems, when its not there own IPs.
not just fairy tales. The Lion King is ripped from Osamu Tezuka's Jungle Taitei aka Kimba the white lion. If you check it out they took pretty much every shot (especially the pride rock) also they changed it from his evil aunt to evil uncle and from mother to father dieing and bam! they call it original. In 2002 or 03 there was an asian film festival in Ontario, Canada i believe, and they were going to show Jungle Taitei and Disney sued them or tried to stop them with some severe act of some kind. Talk about cover ups!
if you can pick up a nintendo DS for like $120 retail you can do OLPC. Just make sure software is available for it. They already got an opera browser for it. Just make a DS with a micro sd card and the touch screen takes care of having a keyboard. Its not that difficult to read on it and its extremely portable and good on power consumption. DS FTW says I.
