I call parrent BS.
You are comparing the CPU power rating. Not the whole system. I had that ignorance also, just before prices for electricity rose and I started to notice taht 300 kWh per mo was a bit too pricy. Now I have gone for AMD Athlon X2 4000+ EE and considering that I moved to LCD TV + CFL and have a electric stove(instead of gas stove) I manage to get 200 kWh per mo. More efficient CPU is the starting point for people mocking others for suggesting to inflate tires.
>> performance per watt
Nice one. I really don't care about the PpW numbers if they don't scale down. I own an AMD box just because the equivalent Intel boxes had more PpW, but minimal and idle power consumption was much higher(talking about scaling down).
A little problem with that thing. I had a client that needed communication with a lot of countries. One of them was China.
With Postgrey I lost that client, since a LOT of legit servers in China are not configured to work correctly, or retries come from another server(in case of yahoo.cn, that apparently have separate names for their MX'es), therefore the mail is permanently was stuck in temp greylist.
So they got fed up of not receiving emails and moved away.
Thanks, Postgrey!
Really? I have played WoW for a year, without buying it, before I bought the official copy and got a subscription. Why didn't I have the incentive to buy it? Because at the time ISP had low international bandwidth and latency but local bandwidth was superb. So I got WoW and got connected to a "pirate"(private) WoW server. When trying to play on the official network, constant disconnects and latency issues made it impossible to play. I mean I would be glad if Blizzard would officially release a server for WoW. I bet people would pay for it. And ISP's would be greatful at reducing their traffic, specially when it goes internationally.
Attacks of the scale the Russians have done take time to organize...
FYI: North Caucasus has one of the highest troop density in Russia, so the scale is not surprising.
...first having had a plan...
I am pretty much sure that every good military commander has a plan for every occasion.
Let alone, tensions have been rising for 4 years now.
...intimidate those NATO states that are actually bordering Russia, and those states that might join NATO...
Anyone thinking that this is about Russia defending its own people is a fool.
Russians did this not to send a message to NATO, but to prove a point about Kosovo.
"You're allowed, so damn sure we will be allowd too."
Was it me, or did the major news agencies report that a Russian proposed resolution, calling for immediate cease-fire, was blocked by claims that it "was unacceptable for Gerogians"? And did that happen BEFORE Russians "barged in"?
As you guessed, the answer to both questions is YES.
And Russians are in Abchazia and S.Osetia based on OSCE.
As it's a bit closer to me, I see that mostly Russians want a STABLE politician. I mean they even said that a guy that is more anti-russian is preferable(because they WOULD know what to expect of him)...
To be fair, only TV is under strict control, other types of press is quite free.
And you'd be surprised, there are some dictators inside Russia. Big country, big problems....
You must have missed ALL the news from that region. For like 4 years now?
Not only there are a lot of troops there, there are some big military bases there also. Let alone Chechnya is just around the corner.
FYI: Russian army was nothing more than the sum of all nations put together... Witch Georgians were a part of.
What has flexibility to do with overtime?
Unless you don't trust your employer or client...
And I really don't think that contract people are even eligible to get overtime pay... Even in the socialist Europe, contract workers get payed for the hours they work, unless it's more than 24 per day....
I think it should be even simpler.... If an employee can cause serious damages, by the nature of his responsibilities(such as signing a harmful contract or hiring and overpiced employee or selling something with 0% margin), he should be exempt. A salesman should be exempt, but not all salesmen actually manage anyone, nor do they have authority to hire people. Ordinary managers that manage funds and are allowed hire people, with those legal action can cause serious damages to a company.
So it boils down to: - A person that has limited or unlimited authority of a part or whole of the company, revenue streams or obligations.
This definition would disqualify ANY of the IT workers, but IT managers would qualify definitelly.
Though I blame both sides over there, there is a parallel. (following statements are NOT to judge, only to outline the reality)
Thing is, this campaign was "planned" to prove a point, that if the west chooses to grant independence to Kosovo, South Osetia should not be overlooked, just because your ally has territorial claims over there. Mind you there is a history there. A) Russians were in South Osetia in accordance to international agreements. And prior to this conflict. (NATO GOT an international mandate to invade Kosovo!) B) The situations are very similar: South Osetia fought for their separation from Georgia, Kosovars fought to separate from Serbia. Resulting in peacekeepers over there. And a lot of (Georgians|Serbs) fled or were forcefully moved from their homes. C) Say what you will, Georgia did actually send in forces into South Osetia, thus breaking the international agreement.
Kosovars were instigated and supported by Albania, South Osetians by Russia.
Resut? Ksosovo is recognized as a country... Why? South Osetia is NOT recognized... Why? See the hypocrisy? That is what Russians are trying to achieve. On a sidenote, they actually said that when Kosovo got recognized...
Really? I thought it depended only on chance...
pico is less than 1 and is derived from italian, though nano is still below 1 and is derived from greek...
The most simple business logic.
FACT: Men are more likely to sacrifice personal time for work and/or professional activities. Women are less likely to do that.
Why should an employer pay women, that have the same productivity per hour as men, but spend less time on professional activities the same amount?
I'd bet that women that do actually spend the same amount of time working have better/faster/more rewarding careers then men.
I have several female colleagues in contrast to them male colleagues do at least 1 hr of overtime per week, and countless on professional development. Female colleagues get in at 9:00 and 17:00 they are OUT for the day, NO exceptions in 2 years now. I am and all my colleagues(both male and female) are Java developers.
Hey man.... They uphold the right for anyone to screw everyone! They are libertarians(from latin freedom) not iustuarians/aequitarians(from latin fairness) .
To be precise they were actually harboring terrorists. And they themselves were not the actual mass murderers.
And yes, it is you moral obligation to defend your country from an invading force, no matter what kind of government you have.(Kuwait 90s and Iraq recently being the case)

Last time I checked something "newer" is a z10 mainframe :)
Hm.... We run a LOT of Java apps on our mainframe with no problem...

kicks the Russians out
This one is hardly ever happening...
>> Believe it or not, there are worse things than hypocrisy.
True. But the worse thing than hypocrisy in words, is when hypocrisy is in actions.
US has showed both at the same time....
Just replace rioters with Kosovo Albanians and Canada with Serbia... and you get the answer....
+1
Finally something sober....
Well interpretations of history, are usually interesting.

Actually, the Kosovo separatists were funded by Albania directly(though 2nd level funding is unknown).
