You probably have a larger TV. I just moved into my dorm and I had to bring the smaller TV, and the difference is night and day between this 15" and the 60-something-inch one at home!

I use Linux as my sole operating system, but of course I used Windows XP before that. I have never once had a virus, spyware is rare and easily dealt with, and I've never had to do a system re-install (although I did voluntarily because I like to start fresh). People that complain about Windows are usually people that don't know what the hell they're doing. Linux has a very small user-market, because the people that would most benefit from its advantages don't know what it is, and the geeks that most use it don't really care about ease-of-use. It doesn't make any sense... who exactly are we marketing to?

I'm new to Slashdot, and it's really pathetic to see people beg for karma points after they say something. Stop doing it, it makes you look like a fucking loser. It also totally ruins the joke. I thought it was funny initially, but after reading your plea at the bottom, I was ashamed for laughing at it.

Encroachment upon individuals rights is a far more sadistic crime (and clearly also a lot more subtle, seeing as you can't extrapolate what he's done for what it really means) than rape or murder. I understand that the imagery of rape or murder is a lot more frightening than not allowing people to "watch movies", but just think about the consequences.

According to the FAQ, the laptops will be deployed to governments rather than to individuals, and who knows how the government is going to deploy them? I think the sensible thing to do is to give them to every child to assist in their schooling.
