Migration has push and pull factors. Right now google is doing one of their obnoxious "experiments" with the Javascript fade-in.
To the AC who replied to you, who cares if all search engines are white screens just like google. The HTML is just an interface to the underlying search technology. Google was perfect, since there was nothing left to take away. Now they are fucking it up.
I cancelled my facebook account around 2 months ago, and there was a two week delay before they actually deleted my profile. Google had some stuff cached for a few weeks more.
You must pick some really shitty hardware. My limited anecdotal evidence, agrees with Google's massive statistical evidence; Computer hardware, even consumer grade, is very reliable.
...appliances on the other hand deserve their bad reputation.
And that's how a pirate can turn into a paying customer.
And that's how a paying customer can turn into a "pirate". I would buy the game in the shop and torrent all the cracked and nicely packaged DLC. Winrar!

If you are a Noscript user, be SURE to un-whitelist google.com otherwise the "remove click tracking" won't work. Do this for your mother, father, sister and granny too. Not only does the click tracking give away to google which link you picked, but it adds up to 1/2 a second to each click-through.
"If you've got nothing to hide" is a tool of tyranny. I thought it was well and truly debunked, and yet it seems it just won't flush away.
Individual privacy doesn't need a reason. The goal of privacy is privacy.
If you're going to search for something that you don't want google spunking up 5 years later, to your post democratic, tyrant overlords, you better start taking precautions. This is a start. https://ssl.scroogle.org/
I'm guessing you're not American. I'm not American either. And I'm also not a McDonalds patron.
I want what the people want
You don't have a clue what "the people" want.
A theocratic government isn't the opposite of globalisation, it's a by-product of lesser government control in markets. I live in China on and off for business, and they have a McDonalds and KFC on every street corner. You don't hear me running around yelling "Don't cheapen you're culture, and be a slave to American corporation$".
Maybe you just have an anti-American sentiment? Would it make a difference if we focused on Ikea, which Iran also doesn't have?
Anti-Americanism and anti-globalisation are red herrings. Censorship, oppression and human rights abuse are universally evil, and must be destroyed.
Your sentimentalism sickens me. How can your anti-globalization sentiment outweigh the fact that Iran is a highly oppressive, human rights abusing theocracy?
You wouldn't be able to set foot there to enjoy the McDonalds free streets, before being tortured, and used as a political bargaining chip.
Everyone benefits from fast pr0n. It's our birthright.
He who controls the SPICE controls the universe. (Unless it's been open sourced)

All sex is best when it involves a little bit of a chase, imo.
You mean like solving a CAPTCHA?
Not quite.

True, though I prefer an HTML aware solution. Sometimes you need to collapse seizure_inducing_flash_advert.swf AND its associated div
What sort of masochist would browse without AdBlock?
I would sooner go whoring without condoms.

They are essentially the same, look the same, probably the same code base but:
CustomizeGoogle: Oct 23 2008
OptimizeGoogle: Nov 11 2009
CustomizeGoogle isn't being updated anymore.
Don't even think about it. Patent troll Ltd holds a patent on "method and apparatus of generating flowcharts".
I should probably add http://www.optimizegoogle.com/ which is more relevant to everyday privacy than say TOR.

Isn't google-analytics shortly after doubleclick in everyone's host file, DNS, adblock, or other filter of choice?

For DNS I trust Google > North Korean state owned ISP > Virgin Media
Otherwise people would know the extent and bounds of the laws, and avoid breaking them.
Police states need lots of secret laws.
A/S/L/Scan of government issued id?
I'm looking at her bebo profile.
What can you see? Can you see anything?
Nothing...there's nothing. Wait...there are markings.
It's some form of l33t speak...I can't read it.
There are few who can...the language is that of 13 year old girls, which I will not utter here.

I agree in theory; and for Denmark this might be a good strategic move, but facing the digital inquisition is far more risky here.
I've seen a couple of these videos, and it really doesn't have the staying power of the flaming tuba.
That article was basically a graph in text form.
