Actually not necessarily. Just because someone plans a crime using Google maps does that make Google an accessory? Probably not. If someone looks up 'How to commit copyright infringement' on Google does that make them an accessory too? I doubt it. Remember without Google nobody would have found TPB in the first place.

As for the holding the door open part. Keep in mind that the first thing the police tell you to do during an ARMED ROBBERY is to COOPERATE with the robber. They'd rather the robber get away than put a few 9mm bullets into people!

Really... where in the constitution does it say that the US *MUST* use a capitalist economic system? Where does it say that the government must be a two party system? Why cant it be a one party system (I can understand that since it removes the choice for democracy)? Why cant it be a 3, 4 or 5 party system?

Technically any expenses that are approved by congress are constitutional. Congress holds the purse strings and they are accountable to the people, if you don't like what your congress critters are doing you can vote them out (in theory).

Much of these companies networks have been paid for by public money. Technically these networks should be considered public or partially-public constructions much the way you'd pay a private contractor to build some government building. The building itself is public even if the private sector was responsible for building it and possibly maintaining it.

Well I know one thing EXTENDING the duration of patents is definitely *NOT* the way to go if COPYRIGHT is any indication.

If you extend Patent Coverage from 20 years to 50 years then we will end up with technological stagnation in much the same way that Copyright has lead to cultural stagnation. It will also set precedence for further extending patents later down the line (slippery slope is valid logic given the close relation of Copyrights to Patents). Do we want patents that NEVER expire? Can we afford patents that NEVER expire? The answer is NO.

What you are seeing now is a result of the US having little to nothing to offer the world. They don't manufacture or produce nearly enough to cover their imports. As a result of this America's exports primarily are limited to cultural items/shows/movies such as American Idol, Survivor: Another Stupid Island and X-Men 11: Even more stupid special effects! Now they need to extend the strength of patents because they want to control the technology involved because they're quickly putting themselves into the same position of becoming inconsequential in the economy because we are consumers who simply do not produce enough to cover what we consume.

    From what I understand...

Juries can find people not guilty due to Jury Nullification. However, this does not establish case law so people can continue to be brought up on charges under the said law. It is only when Jury Nullification begins happening en mass on a law does it have any affect on the enforcement of such law.

Also the wonderful thing is that Juries cannot be punished for their verdict. Otherwise (like in the Wikipedia article) you might end up with a judge who would throw the jury in jail for contempt of court anytime they did not come up with a verdict that they approved of.
