No, the M$'s reputation is being damaged in the eye of the average *power* user. The average users I know have no awareness whatsoever of current events in the tech industry. Heck most are barely aware of what an OS is and why they need it.
I doubt it. Vista will be pretty long in the tooth 20 years from now. And the version that they release at the time (if they exist...monopolies can't last forever) will almost definitely cost money.
Doom and Doom 3 had the same storyline. Super Mario world and Mario 64 did not (although the rescue-the-princess theme is pretty pervasive throughout the series). As far as I know, Mario 64 is the only Mario game that involves jumping into paintings.
I would be great to play Starcraft 1 with SC2-like graphics. I can see it now: Greater than 640*480 resolution 3D Graphics Lips synched with audio. and maybe a few SC2 goodies in StarEdit.
"No linux on the desktop ain't going to happen anytime soon, but that is not what MS is really afraid off, it doesn't fear that it is going to loose 95% of the desktop market, but that that market itself will stop growing or even shrink"
To quote a comment or sig I read some time ago: 2008 will be the year of the Linux desktop. Unfortunately, it will also be the year of the laptop.
True, it was stupid to load the update. But it was it was stupid to create an environment where these hack were necessary in the first place. Also, what did the update do for those users who haven't hacked it? Was there any new features that were dependant upon AT&T service? If not, then this update seems just spiteful. This isn't a case of a hacker killing their system because they made a mistake (other than load the update), but rather a case of Apple killing it because the purchaser wanted something better than they had. As others have noted, this isn't software protected by an EULA, but rather a physical device that they purchased (as a opposed to rent or lease). It's not like they can make hundreds of copies (physically) of the iPhone at the push of a button.
Too true. People seem to be willing to sue at the drop of a hat. But how else do you expect to keep companies in check when they truly have screwed up like in this case?
Is there a way to replace the default OS w/ a Linux based one? Without killing the WiFi, phone, and music playing? Apple can't brick a phone that they don't provide updates for.
Not entirely outside the realm of possibility... The controller can already be used as a mouse, and now all you need is a Xbox keyboard (and a severely hacked version of XP, if MS is providing a console-based OS)
Ubuntu is stable even in the 64-bit BETA version (Gutsy). My only complaint is that they haven't build WINE for it yet (it is in the 32-bit Gutsy repos, though)

It's called the "Firehose" ;)

I was aware that you said StarFox 64.
Mario 64 is mentioned further up the parent chain.

Die Hard 3 might not be a remake of Die Hard, but Doom 3 *is* a remake of Doom.
Pong.
Give us a choice of paddle color. White or Grey?

No. That would eat up resources when I am not using it.
Less than 15 seconds!?!?!? (I timed it) What distro are you using that gets such phenomenal boot times?

And I am even newer than you

Car, heck, you could (probably) buy a house in the Great-Plains region.
Simple Fix: If the OEMs switch to Linux, no one will notice!
Or he got a lemon.
I agree. Converting a business is hard. Better to integrate Linux from the business's inception.
Better to build your own system (or buy one w/out an OS) or else you will pay the M$ tax.
He didn't need to. The blood blurred his vision sufficiently.

Of course it's falling. It's the only direction it can go.
"Microsoft hasn't made a good OS in years..."
You mean decades. They haven't produced *any* OS in the past 6 years.
