I'm no fanboy. I use Ubuntu as my sole operating system and am trying to wean my parents off of Windows (got using Firefox with a IE7-like skin applied as of three days ago). But regardless, I feel that much of the same discussions/. is having these days about Vista will occur when 7 comes out. Didn't it happen when XP was brand new? (I was barely better than an internet-and-solitaire n00b at the time, so I am not sure)
in 5-10 years we will be complaining about migrating to MS 7 because "It is too buggy and unstable and unfamiliar and resource hungry and... After all, Vista "just works" and is mature and stable and...
I will most likely not buy Vista, even though I am not a Linux-only bod. Economics and (some) respect for the law play pretty big roles in my choice of OS.
Hehe. I am taking a break from banging my head against the keyboard because of Excel 2007's incomparability. My files seem to be corrupted after being saved in 2003 format. I am glad I use OOo at home!
If we can find a reasonable song size that multiplied by 30,000 would equal 250,000 multiplied by a reasonable picture size (although reasonable is a subjective term). Maybe an average mp3 and a 600*400 pixel 24-bit color jpg image?
Seeing as the planes will be launched in the summer, when daylight hours are the longest, why not refit that solar-powered plane that flew 52 hours straight (http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/09/10/1917254) for cold-weather flight and mount the survey equipment on it as well? I assume that the researchers don't need the plane to fly for more than a full day at a time. Unless maybe the sun is too low in the sky for solar panels to get enough power?
If he prefers Linux, that is his right. It did not cause the problems he is experiencing, so PC World has no valid reason to deny his request. Why should he be forced to use Windows if he feels he can be more productive or have more fun without it? I would like some sort of response, if you don't mind.
I think that it's accepted because the first letters are the same. But don't ask me. I live in central California (lots of cows and orange groves, but not much else.)
The article states that they do not pay anyone for translations. Read it again for the explanation of how it works.
But n00bs are not aware that they have a choice.

"...behind their international gateways..."
You mean Firewalls, don't you?

I recommend VirtualBox.

Ubuntu Gutsy has had 2.3 for at least a week now.
That is my understanding. I think it when I heard of it it was called "Banzai" or something like that.
I think I see Kirby.

Do the math again. There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those who understand binary...
It's because they have the bandwidth to make it fun and no Fair Use Policy!
That's it.

Who modded paren down? I found it somewhat insightful.
By my calculator 30,000 5MB songs is 150GB. Or are you using megaBITs?
1/2 MB songs, anybody?

Sorry, I thought of it as a troll or flaimbat. It gets hard to tell dell the difference when you live with a troll.
if the owner of the Storm Botnet read /. and if we can convince him/her to launch a DDoS against PC World...

The issue at hand is with PC World. Not PC Superstore.
