I cannot be sure if this has suggested, but I would search for a stealthy (meaning no icons on desktop, start menu or taskbar) screen capture program and install it at a time when Jr. is away. Maybe have video streamed to storage device that Jr. doesn't have access to (physical or virtual) and pray that he does not notice the extra process in Task Manager. You can't circumvent what you don't know about. Then review at high-speed fast-forward during another relatively private opportunity. This easiest if your kid is uninterested in what you do at the computer. In that situation you might possibly be able to get away with reviewing while kid is physically present if he isn't paying attention.
I gather from the thread that PC World is a UK retailer. So he is obviously from Panama. I for one have not heard of them in the US unless they publish PC World magazine. And it might not matter how well he writes if he has a lawyer. Unlikely in small-claims court, but you never know.
I don't know how to remove it (never tried), but you can open Live Messenger, go to options somewhere in the menus, and tell it to not run at startup somewhere in there. Then install Pidgen if you do want an IM of some sort. Sorry for being vague, but I kicked Windows off my machine a few months ago and haven't had to disable it since.
affect Mac and Linux users? This is just idle curiosity on my part, because I feel that the only way that Live search has any advantage over Google or Yahoo is that you can search for pictures the that are the size of your desktop.... Wait---Can Yahoo do this?
Don't do that. It only flags your email as being 'live'. Unless of course you already get millions of spam an hour, at which point you can likely assume that you have been flagged as 'live' by every spammer on the planet.
I definitely agree with number 5. When I first wanted to go to Linux, I checked out Linux.org and it dod not say much that was useful to me. Such as how to download it. I wanted to download Linux, and did not know to look for Ubuntu or SUSE or such. And I did not get any directions there. I would have never switched if I did not know someone in person who had SUSE discs.
That is up to Gnome and KDE and the likes. As well as those that make GTK themes. And it can already be done. Just look at this site: http://www.taimila.com/?q=node/11
Also, Ubuntu 7.10 will include compiz-fusion, and it's parent project, Beryl, is pretty neat.
Thanks for correcting me. But that still leaves us with the fact that Linux users might change their User Agent to use IE-only sites. I see you use Firefox. Ever try the User Agent Switcher extension? Or, since you have IE bundled w/ your OS, you might have used IE Tab. Either way, your actual browser/OS is not reported.
The reason I thought of cookies is that there was a mention of tracking *unique* hits. If you don't allow cookies, how do they know that all x Linux hits did not come from the same machine. If they track IP address too, then the user could be connecting from home, wardriving, a friend's place, a hotspot or five, at work, at school, etc. and getting different IP addresses.
Because he is bashing Windows. Doesn't make much sense to boycott a 2007 car and buying a 2006 of the same make and model. Granted, he probably bought XP a few years ago...
But won't disabling cookies (or select cookies) prevent the systems from being counted? Either that or I am ignorant. Who knows? there could be lots of Linux machines out there, but they are just not counted. Vista and XP get counted because the users don't know how to disable cookies (I apologize to any Windows power-users reading this).
He's (Tank) lucky that his email address wasn't included in the post. Give me a few minutes...

Just hope that part 15 of the FCC license does not apply to the equipment. ;)
How big is Notepad?
I think you mean unpopulated. Depopulation is what you get if the nukes blow on the ground.
It wasn't a cowboy Major. It was CowboyNeal.
These ones were armed, as in being maybe a push of one more button away from going off.
Why on Earth are we still using WWII-era bombers? Are they just hauling equipment around until they can no longer be repaired?

You mean another reason to switch to Mac or Linux.
Not that I'm a programmer, but what does that say about C# and Java?
The parent post is not off-topic, he is saying that his favorite game is to try being the first person to post in /.
I would mod parent up as 'Funny', because 'Amusing' is not an option.

I think he is complaining that there are so many words that are actually complete sentences or parts of sentences.
Just fight the suit 'til the troll shrivels up and dies from legal fees.

Think we can get Bill to donate towards the fund that is gonna pay for all this?

He was a research assistant, not a professor.
