  1. This robot will be more effective if the semi-circle of blue LEDs (halfway up the top dome) turn red just before it's about to attack...

  2. Waitwut? Does that mean that this orthodox judge would also consider scrapping Kopimism (usa, can) as an official religion? So how are the inmates that were thrown in the slammer for downloading a couple of 1960s Beatles songs going to have their religious ceremony of the Holy Copy Party?

  3. More than a few probes have mysteriously been lost.

No mystery at all. They have been hit by nanoprobes launched from Alpha Centauri and were destroyed on impact.

  4. Billionaires on Free Lightsaber Event Now Battling Lucasfilm's Lawyers (siliconbeat.com) · · Score: 1

Where are all these Internet billionaires when you need them? Just have on organize one of these things and have Disney take them to court (no settlements). Would you like the light sabre or the heavy sabre? I mean, if we can finally got Happy Birthday To You out of greedy corporate hands, maybe Disney can get a little Force push as well.

  5. Trade Agreements on Nest Reminds Customers That Ownership Isn't What It Used To Be (eff.org) · · Score: 1

And guess what? The Corpocrats know exactly how this game works, so together with the Bureaucrats they concoct verbiage in Trade Agreements that protect this scheme, not allowing you to remove/bypass the DRM (unless you want to be a criminal). The elected representative only get to say Yay or Nay against the whole thing ("I'll have the Deluxe burger but hold the tomato" doesn't work here, you're going to have to swallow the tomato as well).

Say, has anybody had the courage to ask Mrs. Clinton what her current stance on TPP is? A few months ago she was a bit foggy about it, and "it in it's current form" doesn't apply as it cannot be changed, only ratified or not ratified.

The province of Nova Scotia is actively petitioning with the Federal government to increase the amount of immigrants that are allowed in through the "provincial nomination" program. If you're English-speaking, had a good education/have relevant experience, you're more than welcome. And that's permanent residency we're talking about.

  7. FEED Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, deadmau5! on The Music Industry Is Begging the US Government To Change Its Copyright Laws (theverge.com) · · Score: 5, Funny

I feel so bad for Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, deadmau5 and all the other starving artists of this world. And at the same time I feel anger directed towards all those illegal downloaders that are responsible for their poverty! So let's all chip in and donate to their food banks. Just have the interviewer ask which food bank they go to (and what bus route they are on in case someone wants to donate a bus pass).

  8. Planet Ten? Oh no! No way! I'm staying on Planet Seven. Planet Ten is just a little less worse (in one way) than Planet Eight point One, and a lot worse in other ways.

It's a bit too much for me, even if you watch it with a few other people; perhaps in the future we'll see the price drop to maybe $20/movie after a week or two, and $10/movie after 4 weeks. I usually go with just the wife and that $50 is about what I pay for 2 tickets for a 3D movie with popcorn and pop combo deals.

...even if Microsoft gave the full retail version away for free. Oh, wait. They are giving it away for free. And still people want to keep their nice Advanced Desktop User OS a/k/a Win 7.

Instead of trying to push W10 down our throats, why not bring back the Aero windowing environment complete with the "old" tools. So on tiny-screen finger-painting Surface tablets they can use W10 as it is now, and on our Mouse-And-Keyboard-And-Large-HiRes-Monitor we can use something optimized for that. "Desktop mode" in W10 is a joke (even with Classic Shell it still is aweful on a large monitor).

  18. Just ask Kim Dotcom. He never set foot in the US.

  19. This is true. The Germans were quite "meh" when it came to the NSA intercepting German email, until it came out they were also targeting Chancellor Merkel. Then the sh*t suddenly hit the fan.

I wouldn't be too sure. Why do crack groups convince trusted game store/distribitor employees to lend them pre-store copies of games? There just needs to be something in it for them. Like an endless supply of free moviez, other warez, money, etc. So indeed that's not technically "volunteering", but I wouldn't be surprised that there are advanced electronics wizards out there today that started out swapping C64 games on cassette in the schoolyard back in the day, and might answer to "Hey, those corporate bastards at MPAA say this cannot be decrypted and that's 100% guaranteed!" with "Oh, yeah?"
