    I don't know about what other peoples motivations may be, but I'd name a project something silly just to fuck with people who think marketing is cool. The name doesn't matter for the merits of the project and truth, not made up manipulative shit, is what should make the world go round. Fuck marketing.

    That is 9.10 specific. The same general method (using the backports repository) for lucid might be a solution in some time. Right now I think the lucid backports repo is still empty.

    In backports, they put updated versions of stuff for people that want them (not bug or security fixes, which go in the normal repos and are supposed for everyone).

    I was wondering about the appropriateness of the "undecided" and "unassigned" statuses of this bug, but if it only affects some people with the RaLink RT2860 chip, then that is more understandable.

    "Lucid on Asus EEE PC 901 and 1000H fails to connect to any wireless network". Those (pretty common, I think) netbooks have the RaLink RT2860 wireless chipset.

    Played for a while, until I clicked "Get diamonds" and was taken to a page to enter credit card details. With diamonds I could get a magical bronze hammer or something, which in turn would magically give me extra food, wood and stone.

    So, if you're rich and like a game where real world money gives power, knock yourself out.

    As far as I'm concerned AE can stick this game right up their butt.

    Thanks for enlightening me.

    My understanding of the American dream was too narrow. I thought the American dream was the dream of becoming rich coupled with the implication that America is the place where this is especially easy.

    You're right about it not being clever. Clever would imply an intelligent designer, so to speak, while the American dream and other ideas are just that, ideas, or memes, if you will, wielded and propagated by anyone who sees fit.

    And my karma is still excellent, so no biggie.

    Post crime punishment is almost never the best option. Punishment mostly works to quench the thirst for revenge among the rest of society. Punishment only works as a deterrent for white collar crime, not crimes of passion and desperation.

    I'm not saying we should let drug crazed maniac serial killers (for example) roam free. We should make sure they can't hurt people, but punishing them is just barbaric.
