    I really hope they address the creation of the cylons or at least how they came to the conclusion that humans should be exterminated. I would find that plot intriguing. Also, the hiring of more leggy and busty actresses would help, too. ;-)

    Silane is pyrophoric and boils at 161 K. It may be a while before this leads to practical results.

    Yeah, the article title got me really excited. I thought they discovered the Holy Grail of super conductors: room temperature and pressure.

    Actually, his kids, grand kids and great grand kids are all pretty average. One of his great grand kids owns a furniture store and 3 warehouses. See the current issue of Discover Magazine - has Einstein's photo on it.

    Frontline... true, but I wanted to see Ken Burn's "The War". Guess they wanted to keep the DVD sales. Wonder if public money went into that program.

    That's one of the things that chaps my ass about PBS. Our local stations have to pay for these shows and some of those folks are making millions on businesses related to the show - Rick Steve's Europe for one. The local station buys the show, he advertises his travel company, which by his own admission on 60 Minutes soes over $20 million in revenues. It's the same with "Sesseme St." Jim Henson's heirs are also making millions off of the merchandising from the show. Ken Burns also.

    I think those shows that are pulling in the bucks via side or their primary businesses should at least give their shows to PBS.

    When smoked it has been linked to an increased risk of gum disease [reuters.com].

    Anything smoked also increases the rate of heart and lung disease and stroke.

    How willing are you to NOT "bring home the bacon" and possibly sacrifice local needs and wants rather than further inflate the budget? Are you for attempting to actually CUT the budget instead of cutting the rate of increase?

    In Oregon?!? There's a bunch of folks who've lost their jobs because of Washington, as far as they're concerned (environmental lobbyists to be exact) and they want their due. In other words, start carving up that pork because the rest of the country owes them for keeping the owls happy!

    OR: "I have been kicked out of Tibet and the Chinese have my millions of dollars! Watch this video of the Tibetan protests and make BIG Yuan!"

    See, it can be done ethically!

    He basically says that Time lied . Yep. So, in other words most Americans care about the Bush administration's illegal wiretaps and Time is making up data to support an opposite conclusion.

    Part of the reason WordPerfect lost favor was because Microsoft was dumping Office at a price WordPerfect couldn't compete at. It wasn't until after Microsoft established a majority presence that they raised Office's price to the prices we see today.

    I remember those days and I don't remember MS dumping. Yes, they were cheaper at the time IIRC, but dumping? No. Wordperfect back then was the king of the word processors.

    Sorry, I think MS won that battle fair and square.

    Intel is hugely advanced on AMD at this point, however, without AMD we wouldn't be seeing these releases. Hurray for the market, I guess...

    Hell yeah! Without AMD, we'd all be on x86 technology. Although, there is/was Motorola. Wouldn't it be nice to run multiple time line(s) scenarios?

    You can't trademark numbers. When AMD started releasing "x86" numbered processors, Intel filed suit and lost. The judge stated that you can't trademark numbers. It's such an old case, this is what I found in the last 10 minutes regarding Intel and trademarking numbers.

    I'm tired and too lazy to find the actual lawsuit.

    I'm an American and I also go to BBC (Firefox so nicely puts the feed in the default installation), The Economist, Al Jazeera (English version), and some others. The AP, Wall Street Journal and CNN have become too provincial for me...or I'm becoming more worldly (Yeah, right).

    Why does the internet community give so much energy to the liberation of Tibet but they don't do the same to the USA, South Africa, Australia etc that are overrun and controlled by accupying colonial powers.

    Because "Free USA!" just doesn't have the ring of "Free Tibet!" and the bumper stickers wouldn't be as colorful as the Tibet ones: red, white and blue as apposed the rainbow of the Tibet one?

    Free Australia would just have all of us (me anyway) thinking Fosters is giving their beer away for free, and the Free South Africa was done by Nelson Mandela - a better man than I'll ever be.

    If you should merge with MS, it will be used to tear apart the Internet. For all intents and purposes, this would be the endgame. The reason is that MS would assimilate the bulk of Yahoo's customers to add to their base. From there they would then move on to block Google and Linux. Sadly, I believe that this would work for them. Obviously, MS believes the same.

    Ah, but you're missing the grand scheme, sir. The rule of the internet is only one prong of the strategy. The primary goal is the eventual take over of the World by Microsoft. This is just one small step on the corporate level. On the social level is the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. See, they're in Africa, helping those people who are becoming indebted to MS. They will buy their products and one day, fight in her armies. Yes, that is correct. We are seeing beginnings of the corporate armies and corporate rule of the World as predicted in Robert Heinlein's "Friday". Who's to stop MS? IBM, Apple, Google, and possibly SUN and Oracle (ellsion's son is already making military propaganda films See Flyboys [actually a good movie!]...).

    I could go on, but I'm running out of space and the lights on my router are blinking ....they're on to me again...got to run!

    Are there no protests about this sort of thing in the UK? Do the people not care? Or are they already so afraid of being singled out that they'd rather stay silent?

    It's because of the whole Muslim terrorism thing. The riots that happened there, etc ... so the people don't care because they're afraid of the Muslims - that's who's really going to be tracked in the beginning anyway.

    Also, the IRA has been sitting around so the the MI5 guys need something to justify their cushy Government jobs. When the Muslims chill out, MI5 and the Government will think of some other reason to monitor their citizens.

    I think we should spend the resources on space exploration and educating the young folks for those technical jobs instead of sending those kids over to die or get maimed for reasons that I don't find very compelling - (except for Afghanistan).

    And in the meantime, to fight our wars, I think we should send the folks who would benefit from the wars and the arm chair generals who are really quick to send other people's kids over to fight while justifying their haste with the attitude of "well they volunteered and they knew what they were getting into."

    I was talking to someone the other day about the coming elections and I just said that I vote third party but I really want a Republican in the Whitehouse as long as we have a Democrat controlled Congress. Because whenever one party controls the Executive and the Legislative branches of Government, regardless of which party, we get out of control spending, Civil Liberties are trumped upon, ... just horrible Government.

    This person said, "So, you want them arguing all the time.

    I said, "Yes. That's only way to get decent Government."
