Ever heard of re-routing the DNS to another server? Or how about doing this in the middle of the night when there's probably a few thousand less people looking to get to these sites?
I'm sorry, but that's piss poor business to have your server down during business hours and it makes Linux look bad.
It's not so much that MS is losing their strangle hold, but more like there's actually a viable alternative now that attracts a large number of people. What was there before? OS/2? Netware? Not much, really. Linux is a totally viable alternative to MS products, and the customers are speaking loud and clear - it's about time companies LISTENED.
That Mac looks 100% better already... I hope it's the quality of the image/compression - but that black on the side looks flat. Eeew. I'd have used semi-gloss, personally. But either way, it looks a helluva lot better than that Bondi Blue B.S.:)
Um, DEC VAX and PDP machines, SGI and Sun have been doing this since day one, back in like, the 70's and 80's. Ever heard of the FlexLM license on SGIs by chance? Ever install vertical market software on a VAX?
This shit is so old it stinks. Another example of Intel finally catching up to what's been out for YEARS (er, decades).

Yeah, but how much is that hour or two of electricity costing you? ;>
No.
All very true...
Well sure, there's the time issue - but business hours in the country it's located in, U.S.A.

Like SGI needs Linux? Get real...
I for one wouldn't mind an 800MHz MIPS in my next SGI! Probably an R12K or R14K.
Repeat after me, "we love SGI." :)

The people with the brains will be using the Right Thing anyway. Unix ain't going away, sorry.
...and their laptops are really nice. Guess I'll buy another brand now.
More "GARBAGE" on the Net... ;>
And what happens if you do an endo? Or if it rains? I hope they have ruggedization options, as a "skin tight case" doesn't say much... :)
What, they've never had SGI, Sun or DEC equipment in AZ before? Hmmm. They all had IDs in hardware/firmware.
I've managed to compile it just fine on both Linux and Iriz, and let me tell you, it's a time sink if there ever was one! :)

As for the SGI I bought, it's MIPS powered, thank you... :)
I was going to setup a new Intel box, but the hell with 'em. I bought an SGI instaed, and my next computer will be a Sun or Sparc based...

Now that's really useful...
And there are so many other deserving sites out there. Oh well.
"Haaaaa haaaaa." :)
