Then there is no advantage to having information on the differences in bias because there are none. On the other hand, if one judge consistently rules one way, and another the opposite way, then having that information is useful.

I agree we the earlier poster who said that the problem, at least in this example, is the lack of dissemination of this information, not that the information is available. If the information is available to both sides in the case, then both sides can try to use it to their advantage.

As with any chaotic high energy system you can't do absolute predictions, but you know what, the meteorologists did an incredible job, stated that it was going to nail New Orleans and surrounding areas of the Gulf Coast. It's the politicians who screwed up.

So with this accurate information, we told the people of New Orleans that there was a mandatory evacuation. The people of New Orleans didn't leave, and they shot at the people that we're trying to help them, and they looted businesses stealing things like DVD players and X-boxes. How is that the politicians' fault?

That's why the Pepsi taste test ads for example refer to 'another well known brand of cola' rather than coke (OTOH I think in their case that do that because the 'other' cola is just a cheap supermarket brand).

The Pepsi side-by-side taste test ads that I've seen (in the US) refer to Coke.

There are also other Pepsi ads that refer to Coke, like the one where they keep changing the Coke vending machine sitting beside the Pepsi machine, and everyone keeps buying from the Pepsi machine.

I tried to breast feed my son, but he lost weight.

I don't think it is a social system, that forces women to be child bearers. I notice that those in day-care, teaching, and pediatrics, are overwhelmingly women. I'm sure this is just because our social system forces them into those areas, not because women are more nurturing than men.

Women often choose to stay home and take care of their children, because they are more suited to it, physically and mentally.

It's a well known FACT that women and minorities tend to be paid less than a white male doing the same job.

It is certainly a well known misinterpretation of the statistics. The government statistics sited tell us that, in the U.S., when it comes to income, women earn about 75% of what men earn. Does it suprise you that a manager earns more than a secretary? That a construction worker earns more than a hair stylist? That Bill Gates earns more than his wife? Generally, men don't take jobs as secretaries or hair stylists, because those jobs pay less.

In the U.S., gender discrimination is illegal. If you know of a woman that is being paid less than a man for doing the same job, you should advise her to sue. She'll soon have a very nice nest-egg without having to do any work.

A woman doing the same job as a man will be paid the same. And if not, lawsuits quickly pay her much more for not doing any job. Gender discrimination in the workplace is illegal.

The differences in pay for men and women are that men and women tend to work in different types of jobs. Not many men would take a job as a secretary or hair stylist, not because those jobs are "typical women's jobs", but because they don't pay enough. Until fairly recently, this was true of school teaching positions too, but now that teachers are getting paid much better, more and more men are taking school teaching positions.

I already have a good sized collection of CDs that please my diverse musical tastes. Why should I pay for music? If it is legally available for free, yes, I'll download and listen to things in which I'm interested. But if it isn't free, then I'm not buying it.
