I like the game, it's a great concept, but sometimes I wish it were a little less random. You often get into a bad luck situation that you have no hope of winning, abruptly ending a session in which you felt you were doing quite well. But I suppose some people enjoy this unpredictable "rougelike element in the game.
Er... no. Seems like the U.S. got all our dose of winter this year. I don't think we (central Europe) had more than a couple of days below freezing point all winter. Quite often temperatures reaching above 10C.
While an interesting thought experiment, somehow I think that the conclusion is irrelevant. If we decide to distinguish between reality and a hyper advanced simulation, what is reality, if not just that? Reality or simulation, this is the universe we live in.
Whoops, replied to wrong post on first try... chill dude. First of all, I don't vote... I'm not American, just interested in politics.
Second, you seem to be an idealist. Idealism is a very nice, romantic thing. In a perfect world, I would be all for that. John Lennon, Imagine, love it. But it doesn't work out in the real world with Putins and Kim Jong Ils in it. In the real world you need a sizable portion of Realpolitik to get anywhere.
And third, if you can't have an argument without being condescending and insulting, I have no more interest in talking with you.
Wow, chill dude. First of all, I don't vote... I'm not American, just interested in politics.

Yes, Obama is not the liberal, peace loving, second coming of Jesus, as many seemed to believe. He is a US president, and he protects the national interests. Ethical issues aside, the mass surveillance conducted by the NSA is a huge win for the US on multiple levels. Add that to the fact that the Russians and the Chinese would do the same, if they could, and the massive diplomatic damage causes by Snowden's revelations, how can you expect any US president to openly applaud that? On the contrary, he is practically forced to treat Snowden as a criminal, even if he personally sympathizes with his cause. Everything else would leave the US intelligence community at severe disadvantage towards rival nations.
Comparing Obama to Bush is way off... Bush started a unilateral, happy go lucky war in Iraq with no exit strategy, under false pretenses, disregarding doubts of major NATO allies, Bush introduced torture, Bush introduced tax cuts for the wealthy, Bush shamelessly handed out contracts to the companies of his friends and buddies... I say Bush when I actually mean Cheney and Rumsfeld and their Neo Conservative Club. Bush was just their puppet.
Healthcare is a complex issue... One thing is fact though, the US has one of the most expensive and inefficient health care systems in the world. Free market has not succeeded in the promise of auto-regulation and cost-reduction. And millions of people in the US are completely without health care, something which can be considered embarrassing for a first world modern democracy. Something had to be done and Obama is one of the few to try and tackle it. But big projects like these take time. The moon landing also didn't just happen over night, and there were some casualties in between.
And about FUD... you can't tell me with a straight face that some high-profile right-wing commentators like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, or Bill O'Reilly are on the same level of sanity as liberal commentators such as Keith Olbermann or "The Young Turks". Not to mention other celebrities; who do we have on the right? People like Sarah Palin and Donald Trump, on the left? People like Al Gore and Noam Chomsky. Who would you rather share an apartment with?
If these two cable providers don't have overlapping markets, it seems to me they were like a cartel to begin with, dividing the territory between them and entering a do-not-compete agreement, which should have already prompted an anti-trust case.
You are probably right. But it seems to me that the Democrats have been the lesser of two evils for decades now. There seem to be more people of integrity and common sense on the democratic side than on the republican side, be it the politicians themselves or the news commentators vying for them. Also, I can't abide the constant stream of disinformation that right-leaning sources love to spread in their efforts to cause FUD.
Republicans are friends of big business. Not of the free market. Over the years the Republican Party has transformed from "conservative" and "liberal" to the Corporate Lobbyists Party. In essence they use the party as a means to pave their way into management level once they retire from politics, happily kissing asses along the way.
On the desktop the front page looks more modern, but when browsing topics I can practically fit the same amount of content into my window as before. I don't see how the beta style negatively impacts my browsing or the usability of Slashdot in any way. This whole beta protest is making me think that a large portion of Slashdot users are close-minded retarded assholes just itching for a reason to troll and spam. As soon as you voice a different opinion not in line with the "fuck beta protest" you get modded to the ground and obscenities thrown in your face.
Can we get over it already? The beta look is not that bad. If you don't like it, there are browser plugins you can use to change the look. Or, less talk, more action, GTFO. I'm tired of scrolling through pages of Beta nagging and filtering actual comments from all the bitching.
I remember how much I hated the current design back when it was introduced, now, it looks fine to me. It's the lazy brain phenomenon. Brains are always fighting against change. The older the brain the more reprehensive and dismissive it becomes against new stuff. The problem however is not the new stuff, but the fat, lazy brain that has sat all comfortably in its shell for way too long. Bitching about every disturbance in its daily grind in an attempt to deal with as little new stuff as possible.
Eventually, if you force it, the brain will adapt and accept the new order as natural. It's good brain exercise to move the lazy brain out of its comfort zone and make it adapt to new stuff every once in a while.
I think Rage is one of the best shooters of recent years. I don't get why it's not well received. It's fluid and much more interesting and involved, and offers more gameplay than any Call of Duty. AI and character animation are also some of the best, if not the best, I have seen.
But right in E1L1 if you move to the left and up the stairs to greet your fellow co-worker you get a shotgun blast right in your face. And then if you're not careful another two blasts in the back from the guys below.
If everybody is trying to save you, they are certainly being dicks about it.
Maybe the hurdle was not Zenimax, but Occulus. It's obvious to me that Zenimax should profit from such a deal, as VR is clearly the future. But it's not so obvious why Occulus should tie itself to a single publisher when it's them who's got the "killer app".
And if for some reason the problem was on Zenimax' side... If John Carmack tells you to do something, you do it, bitch!

very cold throughout europe

In other news, an American troll told an American poster to shut the fuck up today, adding "cry baby" as final insult.
In other news, 97% of Americans believe it's ok to call a game "football" that is played mainly by the use of hands.
In other news, 68% of Americans don't know that there are no native elephants in Europe.
I would prefer something more along the lines of iddqd
Skyrim in true VR would be awesome
Yeah... and I am anxious and terrified at the same time to discover what playing Left 4 Dead in VR will do to my psyche...

Does this also apply to LinkSys Routers that have been Tomatoed?

Yeah, I also like the new beta look.
Now go ahead and mod me to oblivion because I have a divergent opinion, you "fuck beta" spamming fascists.
I remember we had the same whining the last time Slashdot changed to the current look.
And yet, the world is still revolving, life goes on. Go figure.

Come on, the new design isn't that bad. That's just your scrubby, inflexible brain talking.

The big problem with age is that your mind gets filled up with information, and it's hard to intentionally forget stuff.
Vodka.
