If you are going to pick up a work that you didn't create, you must be willing to accept the terms it is provided under. Complaining about it being "viral" is stupid. Shut up and use something else if you are not happy with it.
No one is garenteed the right to a successful business. So it turns out that hippies living in their mom's basement are capable of churning out professional quality software. This is not a situation to complain or litigate about. This is an indicator that perhaps writing proprietary software is not the best business to get into.
How does he restrict how anyone licenses their software? All he has the power to do is choose how the software he writes is licensed. Considering this, his ideals must mean a lot to people considering the extraordinary amount of free software out there today.
I was going to mention one of my friends. He's stoned all the time (just about 24-7, toking throughout the day) and there is no way he is going to get a job unless he cleans up his act. When someone admits to drug use, there is no way to tell whether they are like me (just got a promotion because several people apparently commented on my work ethic... wow...) or like my friend who asks for "gas money" from everyone he meets, has no job, takes as few (and easy) courses as possible at community college, and basically avoids any situation in which he would have to exert himself.
I guess I'm lucky that my current employer goes by the don't ask don't tell system, while many places ask simply "have you taken illegal drugs" and drug test, either once or periodically.
Exactly. If they are on your time and getting paid, it should be under your conditions and you have the right to take recourse when an employee shows up to work under the influence of something - or if the side effects begin to impare their ability to work. On the other hand, drug use should not be an issue if the employee shows that they are capable of showing up to work sober and getting their work done just like everyone else - though I understand where employers come from when asking about drug use.
The idea is that the review board should be independant of the company trying to make money from the game by selling copies to as many people as possible. Otherwise, I think your suggested rating system would be far better then what we use today - which is a steaming pile of shit.
In a free society, we should be free to make the choice of what we want to put into our bodies. It's hopeless for the government to try to regulate such a frivilous thing. If the war on drugs was gone, and replaced with an honest education campaign (something that goes farther then saying "drugs are bad"), along with the government being able to oversee the production and distribution of these drugs, they would be safer. There wouldn't be the risk of spreading AIDS through needles, or having your substance cut with something else resulting in overdose. Many illegal drugs, such as cannabis, mushrooms, and LSD are relatively safe and I don't think exposing them to our culture would have to much of a negative effect - as long as people are well educated.
No one should be using outdated software, and no website should depend on it. If it does, it's broken and it is not your responsibility to fix. Either don't use it, or put a retard in his/her place.
On a seperate note, I don't know why people choose to use outdated proprietary software which limits their capabilities when by choosing free software they can stand (ie. remain at - not be there for one day) on the bleeding edge without bleeding out their wallets. Vendors of proprietary software are much more enticed to withold certain bugfixes and features for that next version so they can charge people all over again for the software they are already using. With free software, You click a button, update, and boom - several programs on your box are updated and have expanded functionality.
I agree with you and your parent. Children should be tought programming skills in the context of math. Computers exist to take the burden off of humans. It doesn't help to send the right when you teach virtually nothing new in class and then send students home with 20 questions worth of busy work every night. In class we should be teaching concepts and theory, and use our mighty computers to demonstrate it in action.
You are forgetting that legos must be interlocking. That somehow is a part of the algorithom unless the guy cheated (the frame/glue holds it together). Assuming the picture is two "nubs" thick, The algorithm must combine 1x2, 2x2, and 4x2 blocks in a way where they hold on to eachother - in addition to dithering and making the photo look more realistic.
I'm willing to bet that the code isn't optomised (hey - it's java!). I bet these calculations can be done in a couple of minutes at most, not 10 hours (assuming he's not feeding it 10 megapixel images). It would also be interesting to compare implementations in different languages (C++, python, lisp, haskell,...)
And if that formula is machine parseable since that's what code boils down to...
I don't know why the FSF doesn't just ignore software patents and the DMCA. They should let this argument be taken to court so both of these rediculous restrictions can be shut the fuck down. I'm pretty sure the FSF, SFLC, and/or EFF have enough money to throw at it.
I remember a while back someone made something like this in doom out of dummy players, conveyer belts, and doors. Absolutely nothing new, but fun to play with none-the-less:)

If you ever want to play earthbound on your wii, I'd highly recommend using it. It's extremely simple. :)

A bunch of people used to always give me a really hard time until they realized I'm the most chill person on earth
Less, but not zero... hehe.
Sorry, class ended....

It was in the closet for much longer then that.
5) ...
6) PROFIT????
If only I could get laid...
Imagine how much pot farming we can do on mars :D
We've been there before, and we may very well get their again, depending on the competency of our future president and congress.
A lot, as it would put them out of business. Doesn't make them not fucking peices of shit though.
that must be one MOTHERFUCKING loud and obnoxious ring tone to hear it over the wind and bike flying down the highway :P
Perfect for lunch or movies :)

I agree, my parents always told me not to take candy from strangers.

issues that poor people sue over will be thrown into the frilolous bucket while all these damn bullshit cases will still be fought in court

+1 insightful, not +1 funny.
