Many people are uninsured simply because they cannot afford it. If your job doesn't provide health insurance for you, you are left to pay for it yourself. When you're living on a low income, you have more important things to cover first, before you can even dream of health insurance. Rent, food for your family, ect. Both of my parents work in a hospital and deal with this every day. People without insurance avoid seeing a doctor until their condition declines so much that they must go to the emergency room (where they cannot be denied service). Instead of taking preemptive measures to health care, they must wait until they are walking the line of death to be treated. After they are treated, they will disappear (without paying the outrageous bill which they can't afford). This is a very inefficient model of health care.
The way I see it, If we can spend so much money starting war with a couple countries which did not threaten us, why can't our government cover health care? Health care would be the absolute best thing to spend our tax dollars on. Why don't we invest in healing people instead of maiming and killing them?
As the snake gets longer, it becomes easier for it to crash into itself or into a wall while avoiding itself. Those apples become so much harder to gather.
This is why I completely quit console gaming, and why I don't have an ipod or iphone. The constant deprecation of relatively new technology is really a pain in the ass. My 9 year old computer still purrs away happily running recent GNU/Linux software. I've upgraded a couple peices of hardware over the years, and the resulting machine is still very useful and spiffy (as long as you are not compiling Gentoo). Take a moderately old computer, throw in a $100 graphics card, and you'll have games like Sauerbraten, HL2/CS:S, or Doom 3 running fine, without having bricks of abandoned technology littering your bedroom and making you trip in the middle of the night. Imagine: SNES, Sega Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, N64, Gamecube, PS, PS2, Wii, XBox, 360, PS3... then the next generation... all this shit can run on a computer that I'll take care to upgrade IF the games being released are worth it. Doesn't that make more sense?
To compress what you said into one sentence; Banning the openly specified protocol with endless legal applications just because it may also be used to illicitly send copyrighted material will only serve to generate 20 new protocols which will only be used to share copyrighted material illicitly and do nothing legal or beneficial.
I'll admit that I'm no angel. I download albums over bittorrent from time to time, but I also download plenty of legal content over it, including a bunch of creative commons works, and plenty of free software distributions.
Actually, they do have the right. You are not being forced to play their game. If you don't like where the commercial gaming industry is going, lend a helping hand to bring the free software gaming scene up to speed:)
Their last album is not what got them into hot water. It was when they sued Napster in the 90s because a couple studio recordings had been leaked. After having a huge pool of their fans join the already huge pool of their enemies, they weren't doing too well and they had realized it was themselves who shot the hole in the bottom of their boat. They are playing nice now (or at least trying to look that way) because that is their only hope.
On a completely unrelated note, their new album is garbage. If I hear them complain about piracuy distrupting their sales, when they are trying to hand you a steamy peice of shit and call it gold, then they can get in another bus accedent and all die, because this is beginning to piss me off.
It'll take another couple of years for these words to bounce around inside his aging and balding head. Once it settles, he'll sit there for another couple days and then be like... "ohh... really?" and make himself look like an old tool who shourd return to the old people's home.
dont take this completely serious. I have respect for mccain, it's just fun to make fun of old people - this is slashdot after all.
CDs are now an archaic outdated media. There is absolutely no reason to carry them around when you can carry the same songs and artwork from hundreds of CDs in one tiny widget that fits in the palm of your hand. There is no reason why anyone should have to get in their car and drive all the way to the CD store just to look at a smaller selection of music then what they can listen to instantly and effortlessly over the internet. Digital distribution is so much more efficient, and environmentally friendly then shipping plastic coasters to every corner of the world. Need I go on?
Now that the cost of production and distribution is basically zero, the price of the music should change to mirror this. There is no longer any work (just contracts and payoffs) being done by labels. There is no reason for a band with decent talent to depend on them any more. If you can afford a guitar and drums, save up some more pennies and get yourself a microphone. Do your own recording. Put it on bittorrent. Ask your fans to see your preformances and buy/donate - but don't force them and don't blame them for anything. They may have something more important to put their money towards, like paying bills, charity, or even buying their own guitar or mic. Artwork shouldn't be made for money anyway.
$35 million

(mods) This is not funny, it's the truth.
Actually, I'm sure you can send a hard drive through a tube much faster then you can send it over most networks.
Thank you. I loved your argument.
I smeared the ink all over the wall

Who's quote is that? ... or is it your own?
I don't think you can say at the age of 6 that this child is not going to be a produictive member of society...
Thought out like a true hacker.
I see your schwartz is as big as mine! Now let's see how you handle it!

It's funny that they get paid in exactly the opposite order.
No. There certainly are endless ways of writing truly atrocious code.
Hey, I'd much rather act 11 years old for my entire life then act 60 years old for my entire life. :)

I guess that pretty much hits the nail on the head.
I meant to post that anonymously :(

Why do people pay for television service just to view endless commercials?

Six months in prison is a long tiome for a crime that caused no physical harm to anyone.
