I like the whole idea of putting linux on the netbook I think it helps keep cost down. Plus some Linux distro's like Ubuntu have a netbook version that are very light weight and easy to use. The distro he is using is command line driven does not get more light weight then that.
I have to agree Apple is getting a tone of slashdot attention. Knowing Apple's reputation they probably plan and want the publicity. But lately they been getting a lot of negative attention which is not a good thing.
The interesting thing is these admins that run these sites are more well versed in how the internet works then the people trying to take down the sites. They basically got taken down then outsmarted everyone by registering with another DNS in another country.
A lot of people in the PC repair industry are going to be happy about this. Now they will not have to have a bunch of universal power adapters hanging around.
After the recent release of Ubuntu I have much more faith in there engineering team. Canonical is definitely showing promise in being the #1 desktop Linux distro.
When a small company gets bought by a big company what the company gains with the funding they loose in the customer service that's just the nature of business in the modern day business market.
If my bank did this I would change banks. I know I have heard of small local banks being hacked and getting debit card numbers. But sending an activated debit card threw the mail is just bad business and bad security.
The web designer must have gotten reamed. But let's be real Facebook is getting to be out of hand. The question used to be "Do you have e-mail?" now its "Do you have Facebook?"
Oracle will not let Java die. It needs Java for a lot of its applications plus other company's need Java so stay alive. I was just at a customers just recently that runs Novell and the entire infrastructure is OES Linux and Free Suse. All most every desktop tool and web tool was Java based.
That's cool to point out until now I never realized it was bigger in 3.0. Sometimes your so busy checking out the big features you don't take time to look at the small ones.
They want the economy to do better but yet they keep making things more and more expensive for the American people. When does it end? I mean seriously.
Google is so smart they think of anyway to make good revenue and them now being the biggest power brokers in the travel industry good for them. I would like see a chrome chrome add on for this. Go Google!
They just refuse to be shutdown. I have never seen a BitTorrent so determined to stay up they have switched ISPs and are now running inside Swedish Parliament that's just determination.
I am really surprised with all these issues that the new Iphone is having. All these issues with a new product is very uncharacteristic of Apple. There Quality Control is usually very good.
After years of working with PC's all company's have there flaws but Apple seemed pretty stable my next computer I was thinking Imac but after hearing about the Iphone I am worried about Apples quality control now.
I was at the Verizon store over the weekend and I saw no one even look at the KIN it was either Blackberry or Droid. I never even heard the word KIN lol.
Java in general is a security nightmare. Adobe had a huge hole in it because of the javascript that runs. Mysql has database injection holes because of the javascript that runs. This is part of the reason why adobe now has the option to turn off the javascript from running in Adobe Reader. Also why so many sites are getting away from being java based. They are trying to eliminate the security problems.

With all these issues with the Iphone I would not be surprised if Apple completely recalls the phone and just gives everyone a new phone.
