When you can commonly buy dual or quad core 4 proc machines and can scale a couple of those together. No, 8 gamey boxes "scaled" are not a super computer, unless you are comparing that to a C64!
Wish I could say I don't, but my truth switch is stuck 1 and won't let me toggle to 0. I do not think it helps lower stress and I have seen it get someone a diversity class refresher. Maybe it is like salt (a little helps and too much raises your blood pressure).
Give me a break! I am no huge supporter of Microsoft, but they survived ME and are behaving in the exact fashion they did then. they will continue to support and sell XP because they are forced to and then quietly abandon Vista. Face it, even if you hate MS they are not going to fail over this.
Are the reason people started adopting the technology. I didn't fool with the stuff till they started obstructing the content I went there for in the first place. If they want to go to subscription based format fine....maybe they can make a go of it. Otherwise quit whining!
Look at how many more people are gonna just jump for the new OS. Ok, well maybe not. On a slightly related subject my kid loves the Ubuntu box I put together for her this weekend!
Frightening people into a payoff even if they haven't done what they are accused of? Justice priced high enough that most individuals will just pay the protection money is how they operate. For most folks it is just easier and cheaper (win or loose) to pay off vs cost of lawyers, and lost wages from time missed from work, not to mention stress. If you win; Loose and the financial burden is even larger.
Same kind of concept: manipulate the mind of the people listening. The only effective response is a return attack on the speaker even more harsh and sensational thus distracting from the original attack.
In the political arena Larry Craig is likely to be forever seen as that gay Senator from Idaho who was forced to resign. Bill Clinton as the guy who could not keep his hands off any woman handy. All the denials just reinforce the impression....of course in both cases they seem to have been protesting too much me thinks(see Shakespeare)!
I talk to a lot of H1B types (ok, I am guessing based on the name and accent) as part of my job, day in and day out. Highly skilled is not a phrase I would apply to the vast majority. The same applies to the remote support agents I deal with from India, and Argentina, and Eastern Europe.
I find it difficult to believe that US corporations can't find qualified people. I find it easy to believe that US corporations are unwilling to pay the price for good people here. US employers need to suck it up and start paying what it really costs for US talent, instead of playing the H1B card! Yes, I do believe they use it to help keep wages artificially low.
for the next 2 years from what I understand. But "Comprehensive" immigration reform is due to change that and double the number allowed. This is why large technology companies are supporting it, and why many in our field are against it.
My guess is that many in the Senate seem to be up for sale....campaign contributions and maybe a nice consulting job when we have had enough and bounce them from office.
I wonder, would an indictment would be considered indiscriminate criticism? Cause if so I guess all sorts of corporate misbehavior would have to be tolerated!
Yes, lead is in the colors used in many dishes, but that stuff is fired in at a very high temp. The lead in the caps in the 44 ctgs and what rubs off the slugs is a bit less friendly.
They say that Andy Warhol was killed by lead posioning from the red pigment in the dishes he used.
Both have been through the dish washer and both came out bright and shiny! I did run a couple of cycles with just soap and water after the revolvers....lead on the dishes did not appeal to me.
Yep, IBM wants the drives back, but if you are willing to pay for them....
You bought them, they are yours! By the way, didn't a drive manufacturer dump a bunch of old full and half height drives in the Atlantic to make an artificial reef? Wonder if that worked out for the fish?
Because I do actually do the job better! My company does support for big name companies that fell for that "India can do the job" concept (not my group, but they are folks I know). The jobs came back to the US when India could not do the job well enough to satisfy paying customers. The fact that the jobs came back is small comfort to the guys who had that job before it went to India for a few months.
If we can do it here, they can do it there and cheaper. Thus goes "management think" and away will go even more technical jobs. My experience shows me that this is the way large companies think and where the big corporations go, the government usually follows. Sorry to be such a wet blanket right before memorial day, but it doesn't seem to me like offshoring is what my father and grandfather fought for in WW1 and WW2.
competition is a good thing. I hope this works out well. The company I work for is a big backer of Linux, but I am stuck with WinXP because that is what I am told to use. I am sure that some of the apps I have to use would not work. Ubuntu distro is soon to be on my box at home and my employer is promising training in Linux this October.
Supply and demand....I make less adjusted for inflation than I did 10 years ago :(

And if I am a wizard, do I have to levitate?
Wow, I never had a book that wanted anything, other than to be read!
Now I don't have to wait for my daughter to download a virus, it comes preinstalled!
But since I work for IBM, I think I can be forgiven for gloating!

Yes, Cascade did the job with no water spots!

You are right the problem of false the sex offence accusation.

I only just upgraded to 2.0! Sighs and reminds self that only dead products (and people) are static. We now return you to your normally uplifting /.
But don't I remember a time when technology was suppose to free us instead of turning us in to slaves?
So this would be a case of "Ignore the man behind the curtain?"
