Really though, I'm just a bit afraid of AR obscuring what needs to be seen when walking down the street, kind of like how some FPS games make you play through this little window that isn't obscured by the HUD.

then why wouldn't Microsoft give it a whirl? If it makes money, great. If it doesn't, then sue the pants off of anyone who extended or modified their stuff. It doesn't seem too irrational to try to make money the free software way, and worst comes to worst, they can make money spreading FUD and litigation!
They did have a set of intro videos for Metroid Prime 3, and I don't know why they didn't package a demo in there. Either way, the technology is there, Nintendo just has yet to use it.
With the USB keyboard, browsing on the TV becomes more convenient to watch YouTube videos with your friends, and for parents to more easily monitor what Junior's looking up on the Internet.
If you're into flashy special effects, Exalted would make a much better MMO. In First Edition it was all Greek/Roman type stories, now it's gone into the realm of anime. Still a fun game, with next to no world-spanning metaplot.

I hope they come out with some Sega Saturn games, such as NiGHTS or Dragon Force. That would certainly fill a great hole in Virtual Console's arsenal.
