A later report by the General Accounting Office concluded that Patriot missiles destroyed only 9 percent of the Scuds they tried to engage. The Israeli Defense Force calculated they'd destroyed just 2 percent. William Cohen, Bill Clinton's secretary of defense, admitted upon leaving office in January 2001, "The Patriot didn't work."
Does anyone else find it fucked up that for the longest time, the US government was talking about how this war was waged because Iraq held dangerous "weapons of mass destruction"? And now, all of the sudden, it's about Iraqi Freedom? It may be semantics and all, but my gut tells me that this administration doesn't know what it wants and is just using whatever cause comes handy...
Not to dis your machine, but the fact that it has a hardware decoder is the exact reason that this machine is *lindows* and not windows. Lindows doesn't have drivers for hardware decoders which is why the used the software decoder built into the ROM of the Via device. I'm sure if they could get MPAA approved drivers for a real decoder and charge $50 more, they would.
Living in New York City, I can validate your comment. Many people I know don't have space for a TV considering all the PC equipment they have around the house. Another box that hooks up to a monitor is ideal. However, most of them just play DVD's on their PC's, so this particular product is probably irrelavant to them...
Even more relavent -- the machine is supposed to play DVD out of the box. What kind of media player can't play the formats it advertises it can? A pretty lame one, if you ask me.
Isn't it scary just how many websites are popping up that are hard to tell whether or not are a satire? Does this mean that the people in the US are just crazy or are they pretty darn funny? I just can't tell anymore....
I agree. Ever buy a razor and wonder why you got such a nice deal on that fancy Gillete Mach 12? Buy a Nintendo Game Cube for $129? It's because they make their money on the products that work with and for the products they sell at cost or below. This is nothing new and it you're not wise enough to the game by now (100 years after they started doing it) you deserve to lose the $$ you spend on the razor blades.
Oh, I agree! Don't call me an asshole, but I have to admit, I've done this to truly rotten people out there and it has given me a bit of satisfaction. I would never do it to someone who didn't deserve it, though... ; )
Would be lovely, except that I remember Toys "R" Us suing a very sweet video rental place in my town called "Video "R" US" for trademark infringement. Good luck...
They can certainly respond with favorable terms for those that do stock certain software. Anti-trust or not, Microsoft has shown itself willing to provide pressure in areas such as these.
I got around the "bed of spam" problem with Hotmail by creating two accounts -- one to give out to everyone and one for only trusted people. Strangely enough (and knock on wood!) I get little to no spam on my "good" Hotmail account, after about two years of using both of them. Let's hope it stays that way!
I don't have a list of other services available (and I think they've been mentioned here already) but I can vouch for myself that Shutterfly not only produces great photographs from your digital prints, but can create online photo albums from the images that you upload. You can also password protect your albums for privacy. A pretty cool service.
...but a quick search on Amazon revealed the IT Managers Handbook, which looks like a pretty good fit. I haven't read it, but the reviews look pretty positive and you have to give them credit for the title. ; )
It's not always the "braindead" netadmin, but sometimes the CEO or CIO who is requesting simple passwords so users don't complain so much. Believe it -- it has happened to me!
Unfortunately, there are a lot of programs that start up automatically that aren't in the startup folder. Try starting up the System Information wizard every once in a while or just going to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run] and related registry keys every once in a while and deleting any irrelevant entries on a regular basis.
damn...posting that link didn't work. Try this Slate article.
yes, I understand it's a Microsoft article. However, its not irrelavent.

I wouldn't call that a 40 - 70% success rate.

Can it be seen with the naked eye? : )

I would love to mod your comment underrated! Office Depot's staff is the most clueless I have ever dealt with!!!

Pretty sure that part of the EULA was provided directly from SUN.

D'oh! Next time I'll look for smileys to signify humor! ; )
Newer iPods use touchpads instead of mechanical wheels.
I couldn't find that one on the site. Does anyone have a link?

Good point -- I would never file share over the same NIC I used to connect to the Internet. And if I did, I would definitely use a decent firewall!
