That's an idea I've had for a while... A car stereo sized device that basicaly contains an amplifier and volume control, maybe a display for equaliser effects. 3.5mm socket for plugging your mp3 player into. A USB HID interface (per the above user) might be a plus too.
I'd go for producing it but the price would probably end up higher than a cheap stereo from a supermarket.
That these "statistical physicists" are really just "social scientists" who have worked out that everyone has twigged that "social science" is not scientific at all and are looking for renewed credibility.
Definitely. Who would want to host all that data utilising all that bandwidth which it's hard to make any money from anyway? Distributed is the way to go for sure.
Reminds me of the time the guy behind me in the checkout queue was badmouthing credit cards and how it took longer than cash. Just then, the cashier was handed a big bag of cash and spent the next 3-5 minutes sorting it in to her drawer.
I don't believe that mass transit has been very realistic for the USA for a long time. Time was that you would be killing time on mass transit. Now, however, the gadgets we have mean that mass transit would actually free up valuable time which would otherwise be spent driving. Sure it will take longer to get from A to B but the time available to do stuff makes up for it. 40 minutes of fighting traffic or 60 minutes of working on that software project. If companies would get on board and offer comp time for it, it could take off.
Google earth also fails to show the Lowe's near me that was built last year. Must be a conspiracy. Cause it's for sure that they have satellites up there monitoring every square foot of the earth every day of the year.
Don't listen to Sheldon who is just being argumentative. Surveys have shown that of people who have expressed a desire to be put out of their misery if ever they get in to such-and-such a state have, where it's possible to communicate with them while in that state recanted that view. Even severely brain damaged or physically injured, it's still possible to take great enjoyment from life. One person who was cited expressed that every minute extra he had with his grandchildren was reason enough to stay alive in itself.
Point is, it's easy to be glib about your attitude to severe disability when you're up and healthy but don't be so sure about things. At the very least, we should wait to ask people, or rather, as them again (where possible) when they actually reach that state.
Yes. This is a stupid idea. Clearly, the steering wheel should be disconnected from the steering components while a song is being selected with it...

Hostnames were not always referenced through DNS. Though there may have been DNS servers that were case sensitive that predated the RFCs anyway

(Speaking as a physicist)
That's not always been the case. (No pun intended)

Must be Intelligent Design.
Oh well.

tags.
Better yet, the money could have been left to the people to spend how they best decided. Maybe we'd have our flying cars by now.
Rich
Of course not. What fool would build 0.2 of a bridge?
Rich
Then you have buses.

Feh, I prefer to refill my swimming pool with gas at least twice a year...
Rich
Oh the irony... Making a statement like that while reading Slashdot.

I nominate that for a t-shirt slogan.
In fact, even if you did experienced it, you are still having faith that your memories are correct and accurate.
The issue is not whether faith but whether reasonable or blind, unsubstantiated faith.
Rich
I think you need to read up on what "literally" actually means.

I don't agree with your definition of "news";
Pfft, if they can put sports results and articles in the "news", I'm ready to accept anyone's definition of news.
Rich
Heh, I was thinking of just that reference.

If "God" decides that a person is to die but we are able to stop it through medical technology, did God reallu decide that that person was to die?

More than the brain... My gut tells me that's how our nervous system works.
