every single day, as the one and only developer-IT guy in a manufacturing plant, and not only uniform i also had to use security boots and hear protectors and in some cases dust mask.Everyone hear wear uniforms: the manteinance guys, the operators of the machines and the administrative guys: engineers, production planners & programmers, etc.
i see the wearing of the uniform as a bonus because i don't have to buy new clothes and my shoes are less used because they're left alone in my locker
ps: we also get our lunch in the company restaurant, free of charge of course, so for my is no more buying clothes and free food:)
I'm not a native english speaker by any means, as you could see, but i try to do my best with the few english skills i have, if that deserves to become me some kind of "keep him at distance" guy so be it.
Mark for making possible a linux distro usable, friendly, and gather mainstream and users around the world, but i wonder if the poor quality of the late ubuntu incarnations(karmic, jaunty and that PulseAudio affair, i'm looking at you!) was something Mark was responsible(of some sorts), or at least, know of it, and i'm saying this as a former Ubuntu lover, i just loved and liked to polish, tune and debug to some extents some issues with this distro, but the adittion of that PulseAudio and the almost impossible task of remove it for the system make me switch, now i'm a OpenSuse user and i liked, now i can listen to amarok and youtube videos at the same time without the need to kill -9 some of them.
Again, thank you very much Mark for the past 3 years and i hope your new roles make this great distro return to his old quality.

I work as the sole IT employee at a company of about 50 people. I handle programming, support, pretty much anything that is IT related, or even that plugs in. As seems to be true with many small companies, the priorities seem to shift quite frequently. As a result, I've always got multiple programming (both new systems and improvements/changes to existing systems), integration, research, maintenance tasks/projects on my To Do list, in varying stages of completion
Oh brother! that's almost my current job, the difference is that i work in a manufacturing plant with the joys associated to it:
heavy noise
heat
some outdated software
So, as you migth know, i have to deal with a lot of projects, request, etc, to try to organize all that info i have just checked some applications, and this little app seems promising although it needs some polishment which yourself can do because it's written in java
Not for me buddy, and for so many slashdotters here, sorry for the rant in my sig, but there's no other way i can do anything to better my experience with that damnned PA.
KDE Workspace
KDE provides workspaces. These provide the environment for running and managing applications and integrate interaction of applications. The workspaces are designed as generic environment for all kinds of desktop applications, not only applications built on the KDE Platform. They integrate best with applications following the standards used by the KDE Platform. There are different flavors of the workspace to address the needs of specific groups of users or adapt to specific hardware platforms:
Plasma Desktop or KDE Plasma Desktop. This is the workspace for desktop computers. It's built on the classical paradigm of a desktop environment.
Plasma Netbook or KDE Plasma Netbook. This is the workspace for computers with a small display, e.g. Netbooks.
Future KDE workspaces tailored to specific devices will follow a similar naming scheme
Since there's barely anything useful on the Moon given the cost of getting it, and there's even LESS useful on Mars
Hmmm and what about the experience in design, contruction, operation and manteinance of ships, tools, environment and crews to get there?
how are we suppose to left this rock if don't start trying to get to the nearest, not so deadly rocks around here?

on the security and privacy concerns relating to social networking
I'm a little confused here: are the employees of your company using social network at work?, if so, why on earth don't you block the access to this sites?
Note to myself: don't use/. at work
hehehe me too, i'm seeing some guy in a coat, with a govermment badge attached and some bad-ass attitude driving some pimped car, oh, and with some kind of feathered hat over him.
At $1170 per month, it seems to be aimed at companies providing security services such as anti-virus providers. That price should also keep it out of reach of casual hackers (or crackers!)
Hmmmmm a bot-net controller hacker could possibly pay this because his gangsta-spammer-govermment bosses wants to be in the edge of the malware bussines and that means knowing the weapons and information of your enemy, just sayin'...
Be careful with what you desire, it might come true, like some voldemort-esque character having sex with some kind of satyr in a closet...
btw, what would you call that new pr0n "genre" ??

Palantir Technologies has designed what many intelligence analysts say is the most effective tool to date to investigate terrorist networks
What? a crystal ball to fight the terrorist:
A palantír (sometimes translated as Seeing Stone but actually meaning "Farsighted" or "One that Sees from Afar") is a stone that functions somewhat like a crystal ball.
I love the smell of smoking servers in the morning, it smells like victory!
