I actaully like this idea. Once an account is noted as cheating, simpley redirect all server requests (or logons) to the "cheat" server. Then folks who want to play normally go to the normal servers, the ones who want to cheat go to a cheat server.
Enemy-Territory has punkbuster with it, and it seem to do fairly well. I have seen some folks who seem to shoot a little too acurately, but they might simpley be their connection or something. But, there are some servers that do not use punkbuster which I avoid like the plague.
One time for kicks, I wanted to figure out how much ram is 768Mb, so what I did was this:
Loaded X, with KDE, with Mozilla with as many tabs as I have bookmarks (~25), then konqueror, then gimp with about 40 pictures, then openoffice. Then gnucash. Then on and on, with every app that I thought would take up as much memory as possible.
I did finally touch swap. But it was quite a while later.
Saving a little memory on the window manager isn't that big of a deal.
That being said, I usually use window maker as my window manager, since I find gnome and kde too much. Simplicity is nice, but memory footprint isn't much of an issue on a desktop.
Also, unless you are short on memory, your kde/twm compile shouldn't have much, if any difference. Compiling the kernel is mainly a IO bound or CPU bound, memory isn't really used that much by the compiler.
In case we've already forgotten, during the no-fly restriction after the WTC attack, daily temperature variations changed by up to two degrees Fahrenheit per day in areas normally having the highest levels of air traffic.
I love how folks try to bring this up.
Does sample size mean anything to you? You know, < week in a year is a far cry from a valid sample size.
Ah, more importantly, does it have a screen that goes by and says that windows^Wlinux 2000^W2.6 kernel runs games faster than the previous version because the hardware is better?
Okey, why was there no mention of how many fish are going to get killed by this device?
Windmills kill birds, wavemills will kill fish!
Somebody think of the fish!

Sounds cool. I am all for multiple sources of energy, but one thing many folks forget is that there is a certain amount of environmental impact through all energy sources. These will probably affect the coast lines in some fashion I would guess. I wonder if we'll hear about the different problems these will cause, and have greenpeace or something yelling how they are evil? I guess we'll see.
I would not install a black box in my bethroom. However, I would install a black box in my car. If they pay me for the use of that black box, all the better.
Hmmm, here's something for you, just so you can be educated and not claim ignorance the next time you don't see a use outside incriminating a criminal.
My aunt works for GM, and guess what, they use those crazy little black boxes to increase safety in the vehicles. If they see that certain data is out of wack, they can look into what parts might have failed to cause the accident. They can see how fast the car was moving and see if the damage done to the frame was aceptable or whether they should look into frame redesign for a better crumple zone. Where better to get crash data than actaully from a real accident?
I would assume also that if you feel they accused you of speeding and you were not, you could have the black box entered into evidence for you also. The door swings both ways here.
I also noticed that the "no CA spam" article also. Hmmm, surprise, surprise that two points come out the day the courts decided the election is back on. Hmmm, politics.
I disagree. When someone proves they are inadequate for a task, do not continue to give them responsibility. Not everyone is able to do the work they are assigned.
Take your shoes and socks off and use your toes if you are that concerned. If you are that paranoid, maybe voting is too much of a responsibility for you. I bet they lift the finger prints from your ballots already, I hope you use your leather gloves when voting. Oh, and better watch our for the video cameras, make sure your tinfoil hat also has a face mask. But then the scale that they have hidden under the place you stand, watch out for that, I usually either tie a bunch of helium balloons to myself for put bricks in my pockets.
The article secifically mentions that they (some of the researchers mentioned in the article) that they did not want to jump to any conclusions.
Why is it when an example of "non global warming" is brought up people yell and scream how isolated incidents are not evidence that global warming isn't happening, yet when some incident that might lend evidence to global warming they all scream and yell how this is proof?
Third: You really think you can compare capping to oppression of people? You need to step away from the computer for a little bit and get some perspective.
They have the choice of either dropping you as a customer or limiting your usage. Personally I'd prefer they just drop you.
Actually, if you do a bit of searching, you will find some of the Enron exec's are going to jail. So, as far as your assertion that they didn't get "nailed", I would say you are wrong.

Doh, wrong one... sorry, meant to reply to your "child post".

sample size of: 1 week
I'd like to see the error percentage on that.
Ah, the family trunk.
Ah, more importantly, does it have a screen that goes by and says that windows^Wlinux 2000^W2.6 kernel runs games faster than the previous version because the hardware is better?
Which, btw is 300.
Since you seemed to forget to post the answer...
Sounds like data integrity problems to me then... should put that in the table. :-)

Not all things are equal.

More realistically...
Gray Davis is about to enter the unemployment line unless he does things that are popular.
Spam is unpopular.
Gray Davis "outlaws" spam.
Doesn't seem political to me.
I dunno, don't most people need more than a 32 bit integer to record the number of spam they get?
Or even plumbers.dallas.tx.us?

Hypocrits.
First: HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAH!
Second: Godwins Law.
Third: You really think you can compare capping to oppression of people? You need to step away from the computer for a little bit and get some perspective.

Over all I do get a chuckle over your post, and agree with the EU being a (pinky to mouth) mini-US who cannot agree on the color of the sky, but...
Our war of independence ~225 years ago did leave a couple more of us dead than this summers heat wave in europe.
Whoa cowboy. You are sounding an awful lot like an American now...
;-)
Watch our or you'll become one of "us" if you are not careful.
Tiawan too.

Wow, good post man. I haven't seen a mod point in quite a while, but I would so give you all of them if I did.
