    While Cisco does have licenses for their software, it doesn't mean that they can turn off the router/firewall/switch/etc. Sad people think a license means a company can control what you have already purchased forever.

    I don't know about for his closet, but for a data center where you might need to get at the box after it has crashed, or maybe to remotely change IP addresses/routes/other stuff, it would be very nice.

    Lived in SF 5 years driving a full sized Chevy PU with a stick. There are no handbrakes in pickups, just the foot brake, never had a problem. If you have issues driving a car without using the handbrake on hills, you probably need to go to drivers ed again.

    If your IIS server is using HTTPS simply attack through it. Host based IDS or using an SSL accelerator with an IDS between it and the host are the best ways to deal with that.

    Ummmmm, a nuke plant melting down and a bomb going off have very different results. And even if it was 25 megaton nuke bomb going off 20 miles away, you still have a good chance of living...at least long enough to kiss your ass goodbye.

    The FBI/etc wouldn't know how the attacking host resolved the address, they would simply see DoS packets from the attacking host.
