    It's become so muddled, does it even matter? As a yank I've seen a few recent commercials advertising .co (GoDaddy is one, did it in the SuperBowl) and .tv has always been popular too. Many (American) people don't understand and I had to explain .co wasn't a typo. In addition to your points about global companies, with all these attempts at being clever on country tlds, it's very blurred.

    Now, Overstock.com has lost rankings for another type of link that Google finds to be manipulation of their algorithms. ... And in the midst of all of this, a company with substantial publicity lately for running a paid link network announces they are getting out of the link business entirely.

    So where are the stories to support these two statements? TFS wasn't a summary of a story, it was a few low quality links and some bold, without citation, claims.

    I can do all of these things. A few require that I'm jailbroken, but even my nontech friends have figured out the easy contact sync. iTunes wipes your phone too? I'd say pebkac.
