    Comcast techs aren't so hot either. I've had them erroneously disconnect me at the head, daisy chain me onto someone else at the head and refuse to replace bad coax because it involved trenching. On that latter point, I had 4 techs come out. They were each dismayed at line quality during initial testing and then wiggle/tweak till it passed on their equipment. Then they would proclaim it fixed and leave. An hour later service would drop again... Finally I called up surewest and they bent over backward to provide me their fiber.

    While that's true, if security updates are present in the new ones, I want the neighbor down the street to have it. Also it dilutes the Android brand if person A has feature X and person B has feature Y and neither understand why the difference other than one phone is a samsung and the other one is an lg.

    iPhone does OTA carrier updates. Doing a major update OTA is just asking for problems when a battery dies from Joe Blow not understanding.

    The problem isn't us, it's the neighbor down the street that thinks of their phone as a simple tool, who doesn't have the skills to get around what the carrier or manufacturer wants, and is wondering why they don't get updates like iOS and computers in general get.

    Well a friend of my dog's uncle once said merchant ships are civilian and thus can't carry arms under maritime law.

    But you answered your own question when you said Navy. Although Mexico may allow a USCG or USN ship to stop by with their guns, good luck pulling up to a port with an armed merchant ship. I'd expect that to hold true worldwide.

    Although lemme tell you, MMS steganography isn't very convenient to see what people are up to.
