There are good reasons to spread information technology, but "should be used to replace books" is not one of them. Now your talking hardware. Once your fragile $200 device is getting old. just transfer your books to some new platform. Electronic books for schools are good ideas. Some textbooks get expensive especially if you need to get the latest edition every year.

I look on the internet nowdays if I need to look up some information. The last time I picked up a physical Encyclopedia has been many years ago.

I agree with the whole expresso machine metaphor however

Games are fun because they are a challenge. Sure the graphics and content are aimed towards different audiences but when I am playing a game like zelda and hitting buttons like crazy to swing my sword to kill bad guys it feels good when I succeed. This is a feeling of acomplishment and it is the same in all games. Just because I feel good at beating up a guy playing some adult game doesn't mean I would get the same effect if I were to go out in real life and do it.

It's the same thing with tv. Home alone is a kids show and the kid is running away from bad guys but other horror movies are the same thing (good guys is getting away from bad guys). Its just aimed at a different audience. And sometimes the bad guy even gets to win (or kill almost all the main characters anyway).

Ok to the point. Its entertainment. We to it to challenge ourselves or entertain ourselves by being scared or happy becaus the guy finally got the girl. There is different forms of media for different audiences.

to me to have a white list is not very good. Imagine if all the mobile suppliers use this technology and all have a white list. bad idea. People develop there sites so they are displayed the way they want it to be. I would be pissed as well if someone changed the way my site looked especially if I made it especially for mobile phones.

I dont know if there is, but if open office had a great api for both the web and desktop applications as well as for several development platforms it could be a nice alternative to the office suite. Looks to me there is still alot of work to be done.
