" if MMORPG players explore a different product by Blizzard, they are more likely to try a product from a competitor."
That sentence doesn't make sense. It's a sure thing that eventually, some players are gonna want to try something else wheter or not Blizzard makes another MMORPG so it's in Blizzard's advantage to try to keep them on a Blizzard game, whatever it is.
Even if they invested 12$ million a year (a very geerous figure IMO) to develop the game and bought a huge server farm, they'd still break even in a month or two with that many clients.
What anoys me about the Gnome icons is that they are 24x24 pixels which make the toolbars look bloated. I wish there was a set of 16x16 that we could switch to.
If this technology becomes affordable enough, it's gonna be the death of mobile phone telcos. Everybody and their mother (with a little capital) would be able to deliver cell phone services in a metropolitan area. The cell phone line could become the new broadband modem at the fraqction of the cost of any type of landline technology. The possibilities are endless.
Yeah but if it's 20 million people who lost money enough to average 551$ and onlt 500 000 people who lose a few grand, there's still cause to worry. Statistics can mean anything... especially if like me, you haven't RTFA.
Anyone notice how all the media are basically publishing the same words of the same text regarding this story? Isen't there any independant thinking journalists left?
Also: Does anyone have a link to an english version of a transcript of what Bin Laden said in the video? I'd like to make up my own mind about what this guy has to say VS getting just choice quotes.
Actually, the article states that iraqbodycount.org's death toll is based only on those deaths that were reported in the media. It's the most unscientific way to proceed and it had no credibility.
Quote from the article: "One major project, www.iraqbodycount.net, estimates up to 16,300 deaths in Iraq due to coalition forces. But this collects data on deaths reported in the press only. "We've always maintained that the actual count must be much higher," says Scott Lipscomb, at Northwestern University, Illinois, US, who works on the project. "I am emotionally shocked but I have no trouble in believing that this many people have been killed," he told The New York Times."
'People are looking for a simplicity in their fictional worlds where good and evil are clearly delineated, that you can't find in the real world, and that provides an enormous comfort -- and that, I think, has an awful lot to do with the reason fantasy is so popular.'
If you take into account that Goerge R. R. Martin' Song of ice and fire series, this statement doesn't hold water. No one is so clear cut black and white in his novels and IMO that's why he has such a huge pool of readers.
Try loading a 2 Mb.txt file on any version of AbiWord. 2 minutes later your file still won't have finished loading and Abiword will be taking 50 Mb of memory.
It also has problems with the various file formats it supposedly supports. Try saving a document as XHTML and then re-opening it. Last time I did that, it wouldn't even display it correctly.
And no, I won't report a bug. OO.o and Word 97 work just fine for me.
Wow, only 81 years
Thanks for the link. It's a very interesting read.
After reading your comment I went to delete the page I had created and I got an error message saying I can't delete it.
After a while of not paying, you debt will be given to a Collection Agency.
"I have used quite a few Java programs and most perform well."
Name them.
What if my player breaks and I have to get a new one? I don't think this is going to go through unnoticed by people.
So are Google, MSN and all other search engines that have a presence in China.

At over 4 million players multiplied by 15$ a month, that makes 720$ million a year. Almost a billion dollars.

"certain collation functions doesn't work well on UTF-8"
Would you care to be mopre specific? Is it a bug in their implementation or a limitation of UTF8 itself? (and if so, explan why)
I don't mean to troll but who gives a shit about what the marketplace recognizes? Is this News for nerds ot news for investors?
No but they're completely stupid.
"What I do know is that none of those 13+ organizations you rattled off has been able to stop genocide in Yugoslavia or Rwanda"
You mean just like the U.S. right bitch?

The Winamp 2.x branch is no longer available on the Winamp web site. P2P is the only way to find it now I think.
Thanks a lot!

The site says it's made with TCL/Tk, not PHP.
