In 81, most of the EPA standards were in place already. As long as the powerplant is in relatively decent condition, you can meet most of the regulations.
The agreement to purchase x CDs at full price over the course of the year. Those prices are higher than retail. Oh, they often have sales, but sale discs don't go towards filling your purchase quota. They aren't losing money. They've been around too long.
Not a Linksys or Dlink, though I think Dlink is a little better. I've seen roughly 80%* failure rate in the first year, and most of them have to be rebooted regularly. Anectdotally, it seems like the ones that never need rebooting are the ones that suddenly fail.
You get what you pay for, and 95%* of the people are cheap-ass bastards.
Not a shill, but I use http://taxactonline.com/ . Works fine w/ just about any browser, and on the first page they tout IE, Firefox, AND Opera support.
- UAP support (not running as admin all the time) with automatic privelage elevation (with user approval) for installers and other programs that need admin access Could be nice, but users will just get used to typing in the password, so offers no real security. Doesn't fix all the broken apps out there that depend on improper permissions. Not useful in a corporate setting, and not used in a home setting.
I disagree with you here. This is almost exactly what everyone has been clamoring about. Assuming, of course, they implement it halfway properly. It should be no different that using sudo, and I know plenty of people who use sudo w/o a moment's thought.
We see a fair amount of dialers here in the US, too. All but one that I've seen was worthless, as there was no phone line connected to the modem. Widespread broadband has benefits other than faster speeds:)
There's no way in hell you're going to get a MS guy to admit *any* OS is more secure.
A better question would be:
OSX is generally considered a more secure OS than XP, mainly due to it's complete redesign base on BSD. Was any thought given to doing something similar? Take a BSD base and build the GUI?
Running a browser isn't nearly as important as custom/non-mainstream apps. In nearly every small to mid-size business I've been to, they would have been better off running osx. Well, except for the *one* critical app, that 2 guys in Idaho write/maintain/support. *Those* are the apps I'd like to see running in a MSwindow...

He was killed by a car. It had nothing to do with Toyota. While some cars are Toyotas, the one that killed him was not.

Either nothing, booze/beer, or weed. Mix in a few other drugs occasionally for variety.
Mostly beer & pot. Usually the ppl from alcoholic families smoke more pot, and vice-versa. Completely anectdotal, YMMV.
Well... *Blake*!!!!!!! it's a little late for that, don't ya think? :)
This is slashdot, you could have URL'd us...
Just send all "private" emails like this...
First line is "I hate your fucking guts"
Then the attachment of goatse/tubgirl, which contains the real message...
I mean, who the fuck is going to spend a lot of time staring at tubgirl???
"I'm guilty of all charges" :)

Don't think that can be said enough
If you choose to manually set up networking during the install, you *should* be able to set up filtering then.
This is what you're looking for. Have fun.
Pansy! *I* could do *10,000* hours of keyboard work in a year...

Man, talk about a joke that just fell flat. I guess my gf is right, my sense of humor *does* suck :)
Wait a minute, there's kool-aid? Damn, I need to look into this Apple thingy. I love me some kool-aid...

Ugh, I hate to do it, but....
Mod this up please. It's a really good idea.
