Star Office already has truetype font support. You just need to have xfstt (I think that's the name) running, and then you map Staroffice fonts to truetype fonts. Then when you write a document you get truetype fonts!

ADS-B isn't intended to replace controllers or radar. It is primarly used where there is no radar coverage, to supplement radar. As an example, trials were carried out over part of the North Sea oilfields. You don't need a powerful computer to handle huge numbers of flights. I worked on the software for the North-America to Europe corridor, which is the busiest area in the world. The computers aren't as powerful as you think; they don't need to be.

Typical Slashdot - anything relating to Microsoft has to be manically criticised.

Yes I hate Microsoft as well, but at least let them bring something out before we hound them.

  12. Re:Why adjust the hardware? on Reconfigurable Computers - Again? · · Score: 1

Producing tight code does take time, but even after 15 years, Microsoft still haven't got it right yet. It isn't the coding that is primarily the problem, (unless its C++ - flame!), it's the feature creep, and the expectations senior management put on what the software should do. The same applies for Linux; look at all the various layered libraries you get now with a Linux distribution. But I'm babbling now.......
