That would be the best way, but that isn't the Slashdot way. Or it isn't the Slashdot way as I perceive it. The Slashdot way is usually fanatical, up in arms, "your mother looks like my donkey" or "your donkey looks like my mother", whichever way round its meant to be.

Excuse the cynicism. No wait, don't, it's just my opinion.

Update.... I dont think any of the mirrors have actually mirrored the software yet. The only site I can find it on is ftp.sunet.se, but when I download it, the file is incomplete. I'm wondering if the mirror sites haven't been able to mirror the download yet because of everyone's traffic. If that's the case then poor show Be!!!!

What does an application being open source have to do with its resiliance to a virus? If a virus enters my Linux box and it sees an executable, will it jump on it and shout "Gotcha!!! You are now infecte.... oh wait! No! Its open source.... Doh!" and scuttle off into /dev/null....??

I just dont understand that statement. Could someone expand on it?

  5. Shame about the film being crap on Robin Williams To Sing "Blame Canada" @ Oscars · · Score: 0

I can't say I care. I thought the film was absolute crap. I enjoy the series, but the film was just beyond stupid. I know the series IS childish, but the film was just........ hell I'm lost for words. Hence I don't care for this song. It was so memorable, that I can't even remember it! What is this being nominated for? Best song? If it wins, god help us. I'd rather watch a Celine Dion concert, than watch this film again.

  6. Re:"Mission to Mars" wasn't all that bad. Sheesh on Review: "Mission To Mars" · · Score: 1

You're kidding right?! I went to see this film with an open mind on sunday afternoon. It was a joke! My girlfriend spend 1/2 of the film laughing. That's how bad it was! The script was bad, the acting was bad, the "physics" in the movie were terrible (made worse by the supposed interaction with NASA).

I can't believe Sinise and Robbins starrred in this film. And as for this being Sinise's role to propel him to stardom, no way! His acting was that bad that you wonder whether he spent the whole time in disbelief at the bad script and plot! Oh and the scenes definitely stuck more to science fiction that science fact.

I never want to see the film again. It was the 2nd worst film Ive ever seen, the worst being Starship Troopers. It was a sheer waste of money.

  8. Re:Common misconception on User Feedback and Open Source Development · · Score: 1

I'm afraid I will have to disagree. Installation isn't the only thing that Linux GUIs need. Linux GUIs to me are just not "slick enough". That's a hard sentence to clarify. Yes Windows has many, many design flaws, some serious and some not so. But the interface is slick. Gnome and KDE to me are just clumsy, even though they are partly based on Windows. Don't ask me to quantify that any further, but that's my opinion - I prefer to use the Windows GUI with all its flaws than fight through KDE and Gnome.

I haven't seen the film, but it has nothing to do with technology. It has nothing to do with escaping technology. If I think of beautiful tropical islands, I think of going there for the pure breathtaking beauty of nature. Not to escape technology. Katz is trying to put technology into anything he can get his little grubby hands on. Stop!
So why is this news item posted here? Its not related at all!!
I have sex on my brain most of the time. Katz has technology. Thats fair enough, but I suggest Katz puts down his laptop and gets out and interacts with the world and all that lives in it face to face.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast contained nothing about football. Does that mean it's a film about people escaping from football? Stupid example I know, but no more stupid than Katz posting this.
I know, I know - I'm too lazy to change my settings to escape Katz.
Newsflash!! Crivens runs away to remote tropical island to escape reading Katz postings!!! Extra Extra! Read all about it!
