  1. Re:No problem for Casinos on Cheating At Roulette May Be Legal In UK · · Score: 1
In both cases, there are draconian measures that are effective. To wit: in blackjack, a paranoid casino can simply expel players who make widely varying bets

In casinos I've been in recently there's no need for that - they use automatic shuffling/dealing machines now, which the used cards are constantly fed straight back into which eliminates any possibility of counting.

This is entirely anecdotal on my part, but I've heard that the outcome of this is that references are entirely fact based these days, rather than 'good' or 'bad' per se. For example, they may include details of attendance records, punctuality records, that kind of thing, so that the new employer gets the facts and can make a decision based on that.

And who decide if you have done that or not? Some third party entity just claiming so?

No. Have you RTFA? Have you even RTF headline? It says "BPI requests ISP's Suspend Suspected Filesharers". "Requests", not "orders". The decision will be taken by the ISP, who are party to the contract. The contract will incorporate the AUP, and will als specify what the ISP may do in the even that the AUP is breached, which will typically range from a warning through to termination of the account.

Typically that (if you commit an illegal act or not) is decided by courts.

Well, yes. But that isn't the issue at question here. The issue at question is whether you have breached the AUP. If you haven't, and the ISP cancels your account this may well be a breach of contract, which would be a relevant matter for the court to decide.

As I see it, 10 dollars is a reasonable charge for this. Being in the uk, internet radio is about the only way I have of getting Mets coverage.

It does actually cost the broadcasters money to do this. Yes, perhaps their revenue stream does currently come from advertising, but I've got a hunch that the New Jersey Eye clinic won't want to pay more so that someone in England can be made aware of their services. Therefore the only option the broadcasters have to cover their costs is to charge listeners, and if it's either that or they pull the plug I'm happy to pay the 10 bucks. Sure, it might go up and in the future I'll re-evaluate whether or not it's worth it, but compared to the 20ish dollars a month I currently pay for sports channels on satellite TV every month, 10 dollars a year is reasonable.

This coupon for the MLB online site thing annoys me though. In an interview on MLB radio one of their people said that it makes it effectively free. Erm, no, I have never bought anything from MLB online. Mainly because they only ship to USA and Canada. Perhaps I should ask for the value of this useless gift voucher to be deducted from my subscription. Great, MLB owes me 5 cents!
