Is Keanu Reeves really worth $27million and 15% gross MORE than Jet Li? It's Keanu who needs more physical training; many (most?) of us think he needs more theatrical training as well. Yet still, according to the above
article, Li was offered a measly $3million -- no wonder he bailed! What were the producers thinking?

I thought this movie would deal a blow to Gates's public appearance. Instead, Antitrust makes it clear that Winston is NOT meant to symbolize Gates; Gates was actually meantioned in this movie.
You get a lot of Gates's view, too. There's a lot of defensive comments in this movie for him. In addition, when all hell breaks loose and the conspiracy is discovered, it's too unrealistic to implicate that Winston represents Gates.
Even propostrousness aside, this movie was not what it appeared (to me) to be. Still, JonKatz had a good point when he said that at least "a lot of people will be exposed in a positive way to the open source idea." It was unfortunately a sorry medium between geek and mainstream.
I made this mistake a while ago; DVD-RAM is cartridge-based, a drive for your comupter costs about $350-500 and will NOT read DVDs or DVD ROMs (right?). Nor can DVD players and DVD-ROMs read DVD-RAM discs. I therefore see no point in this silly device.
As timothy stated, it seems rather risky to use this kind of technology; it is easily messed up and not even terribly compatible! I'd much rather see some kind of memory storage like MP3 players but larger; like 512 to a gig of storage. (who needs 2+GB anyway?)
I happen to love my Logitech Trackman Marble+. It's mostly a personal preference thing. I have a few friends who use this trackball too. Once we got used to thumb-controlled trackballs, there was no turning back. It allows for the non-thumb fingers to have minimal movement. This mouse improved my FPS (frags per second) by about 50-75.
It just takes some getting used to; the entire palm stays on the mouse when you use it. When using any other trackball, this is not the case. Unlike mice, your arm doesn't move either; just your thumb.
I only wish it came with 3to4+wheel buttons instead of 2+wheel.

Since when does "excrement packer" qualify as a "tech" job? I'm sure that if the company is larger than a dozen people, the packers of this sh*t (heh) don't/won't have technical backgrounds and don't have any tech-related responsibilities.
PR also doesn't entail any technical prowess. The PR employees of.com startups use computers, sure. So do cashiers and telemarketers.
Bicycle messengers like those who work for kozmo.com also aren't technical positions.

I also am trying to learn Gnome/Linux... I know my way inside out Windoze and DOS (including redirection, doskey, and other command line goodies that DOS stole from UNIX), but do not know how to do much of anything aside from basic GUI commands after a friend set everything up for me.
I have both "Running Linux" and "Linux in a Nutshell" from O'Reilly, but those don't help me as much as some graphical guide for a DOS/Windoze guru like myself.
There wern't too many inside jokes. The movie was made to attract newcomers to the game, not just to appeal to insiders - thus the few inside jokes. As to inside information, material components were used only once (not counting that special magic powder) - and they got it wrong. Dust/dirt is not the component for Lightning Bolt; a glass rod with fur handle (to conduce the electricity) is the right component.
I also don't think that the nearly free computers out there will end the industry. Prices reflect, and consoles are made from similar technology. If/when computer hardware and software decrease in cost, so too will consoles and console games. It should be close enough to proportional that it shouldn't matter in the long run, just means you can buy more games!
I doubt it. The industry seems stronger than it has been in quite a while, with more serious competition than ever before. Backwards compatability, ports (older games seem to be converted to newer platforms more now than ever before), and the Xbox's similarity to MS Windows should fuel the industry, not destroy it. With all this competition, there shouldn't be any lack of new material either.
The record industry is an endangered industry. They are big and powerful -- like a bronco. The MP3 format is an indestructable format that can crumble an empire -- like a shotgun. Musicians are beginning to realize that they don't need to be rodeo clowns, running with the bronco, fearing for their lives. They can just shoot the bronco.
There is no real need for the record industry anymore. Support good artists by going to concerts and buying tee-shirts and CDs (or go to paylars.com).
Well, NS6 gave me more AOL junk, but it has a bunch of stuff that I couldn't get for mozilla.
Rather than fix up NS6, try this on for size:
Copy the contents of the PLUGINS folder from Netscape 6 into the BIN/PLUGINS folder of Mozilla (except for npnul32.dll) to increase plugin compatability for Mozilla.
This was the final step for me; now I use Mozilla for all browser activities. - oh, and this is for Windows, so I don't know how it will work on Linux or Mac.
oh, and don't overwrite anything, and do include the CVS subdirectory. enjoy!

I "graduated" from D.A.R.E. over ten years ago. If it weren't for D.A.R.E., I wouldn't do drugs. D.A.R.E taught me that a single joint is as addictive and deadly as an entire pack of cigarettes. It taught me that drug dealers were ugly monsters and shouldn't be your friends. Then, it taught me that these ugly monsters would actually be my friends and that I shouldn't be friends with that sort of people.
These lies left me completely unprepared for the real world. The independant research I did on my own was far more revealing; I know which ones to try and which ones to avoid. I am now a pothead, which I partially blame on DARE; if DARE hadn't lied about pot, I wouldn't have been so distraut.
But this is what D.A.R.E. was like ten years ago. Perhaps they actually train the policemen who teach it now.
what about yahoo.co.jp? I found a page linking to a site hosting illegal CSS info and DVD linux drivers from Yahoo. (http://search.yahoo.co.jp/bin/search?p=d ecss) Does this mean that search engines are all illegal in Japan?
Forget email - What about students just creating an IRC chat room and discussing the test right there, basically as if talking right in front of the teacher?
You mean products like Delphi, which is made by Borland (now owned by Correl, a merge resulting in renaming them Inprise).
Delphi is a good programming environment. One of my favorite windows programs (EditPad) is made with Delphi. I'd be happy to see that it is easier to port windows programs over to Linux!
How is Domain Name registration handled in coutries like Tonga where the top level domain extension is sold commercially? Do citizens of Tonga have any special privaleges regarding registering for this name, or are they just as likely to get a name as an American?

Netscape 3 is not /. compatible! That black border surrounding the white foreground is also the foreground in NS3 ... you can't read the articles.
NS3 an old standby of mine as well, given as it doesn't hog any of my system (unlike later versions and any IE version).
