    Referencing the article, it looks like it's not discharge (use) of the battery that's the hazard, but impoper charging... So the comments about phones heating up during use may not be getting at the problem here.

    Remember, the article starts off talking about the rampant inflation inherent in MMOGs - items are constantly produced, and nothing ever really goes away.

    So why not make items degrade over time like they do in real life? It certainly takes megabucks to keep a skyscraper in a clean, safe, and useful condition in the material plane. Same effect as the tax as you have to spend money to maintain the item, but less of the "the man's taking my money" factor... Or would that matter? Is this another case where it was free before so it should be free forever?

    Stricter rules for citizens, maybe. USAPATRIOT and its cousins have the effect of letting government play more closely by the terrorist's rules so it can compete on the same field. That's what's so frigging scary from my viewpoint. Once something previously unthinkable becomes an acceptable tactic, you have no chance in hell of putting that cat back in the bag.

    My biggest question is... I'm planning on a major upgrade to my system in the next few months for *cough*Half Life 2*coughcough* important personal reasons. Is this going to be cheap enough that I'd be better off waiting 6+ months instead of going with what's currently on the market? I'm certainly not going to drop everything just because new tech becomes available...

    Duh. My bad. Missed the fact that the poster in question was talking about Outland. I tend to disregard Outland as Berke being fed up and not putting much effort into what he was doing... So when one talks Opus & Co., I end up automatically thinking Bloom County and not Outland.

    That was my father's's observation during his time in the Coast Guard. He refused promotion to Cheif Petty Officer three times before they forced him to retire... He figured that it happened during the initiation ceremony, and he wasn't having any of it.

    Truth is, until this country recognizes that we can not treate corporate entities as if they were private citizens, you will continue to see this kind of hypocrisy.


    Seems to me that what someone needs to do is create a corporation and then sue to get that corporation on the ballot for some public office. If a corporation is to be treated the same as an individual, than the corporation itself ought to be able to run for President, right? And when the case gets thrown out on its ass, there's a precedent in place to override the SCOTUS ruling that got us in this situation in the first place...

    Only danger I see here is the suit actually succeeding...

    I would guess that the only place these bugs could exist would be where the pressure is high enough to keep water liquid at a temperature that is 20 degrees C above boiling (at sea level)... Is the temperature a prerequisite for their metabolic processes?
