    Let's say fishing is illegal and as abhorred as child pornography. The reasons why both are illegal and abhorred are irrelevant to the metaphor.

    Would that make games and tv shows about fishing just as terrible? Would the desire to fish in a virtual sense or watch somebody fish be just as terrible too?

    Most programs work well in Wine now. Solidworks link was not added because it has not been tested on a recent Wine build in a long time, but I bet it works at least pretty well.

    You use Firefox/Opera because it has the features you want correct? You switched from the default browser to something that has better features.

    You can do the same with a video player. Try using VLC.

    Using VirtualBox. Set it up however you want, then make a snapshot and a save state. When somebody wants the computer, run VirtualBox and load the state (which is very fast to by the way), fullscreen VirtualBox and make the escape key (which will allow you to exit the VM) something much different from the default and only you know.

    It looks like a normal Windows install. Let them do whatever they want.

    When they are done, revert the image back to your to the snapshot. Works as if nothing happened.
