I hope he's kicking himself too!:) The Newton had great potential. WinCE tries to be both what the Newton was and what the Palm is. If Newton had continued to be developed we would probably be seeing pretty cool version by now. (Thinner and with working handwriting?) As long as SJ is in charge, I'll not even buy a screw from them!:/
A Beowulf cluster of these would be awesome!

Ok, I said it, now you can continue with the discussion!
Do these people actually stop one moment and THINK "are we sure this is the right thing?". Looks too me that they just rushed this without thinking. Oh well, in democracy people get the government they deserve.
"The Amiga may be vapour ware, only time will tell" That's funny, I guess we can say that about ALL vapourware, right? If I may quote Monty Python: Praline: Look matey (picks up Amiga) this computer wouldn't go voom if I put four thousand volts through it. It's bleeding demised. Shopkeeper: It's not. It's pining. Praline: It's not pining, it's passed on. This computer is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late computer. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If you hadn't nailed it to the perch, it would be pushing up the daisies. It's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-computer! Shopkeeper: Well I'd better replace it then. Praline:(to camera)If you want to get anything done in this country you've got to complain till you're blue in the mouth. Shopkeeper: Sorry guv', we're right out a Amigas. Praline: I see. I see. I get the picture. Shopkeeper: I've got a Pentium III. Praline: Does it run AmigaOS? Shopkeeper: Not really, no. Praline: Well, it's scarcely a replacement, then is it? ... J.
You can disable the stupid backspacebar; Hold down (left, I think) ctrl+shift+alt and press teh backspacebar tvice. You should now have 2 spacebars... Just don't drink too much!
Well, looks like we have (more or less) 100% cross-platform scripting engine. Along with Java servlets, this could mean that the OS/hardware would be irrelevant, wich is a good thing(tm). Start your application on a lowly Pentium Linux machine, and upgrade to Sun Enterprises when you "make it":) Jón
http://www.ast.com/ Is that enough for you? This "new" is not Amiga, it's Buzzword Linux (TM). Why don't they just slap MkLinux on a iMac and call it a day? Whe all the hoopla? And legacy is all of a sudden a good thing? Excuse me, but if I want to run Linux software, I run Linux, thank you very much!
And it's not even out yet! Java, Linux, OpenGL, net-aware, broadband Internet (whatever that is). Com'on! Whas this written by Al Gore or what? Please, get the bloody thing out first before you start hyping it. Good luck, you need it!
Please inform me how GUY makes a computer slower. If you are sitting in front of computer, dragging/resizing windows using 32bit pixel depth, yes, then the GUI slows the computer down. If you aren't using GUI, it should not take any CPU (except for OpenGL screensavers:) from the rest of the system, unless the system design is serisously flawed. Besides, you can shut down BeOS GUI and use telnet/bash only... J.
Well, I too think Palms a bit too overpriced. Howerver I got an IBM c3 (Palm V) for $320 at outpostauctions.com, so it might be worthwhile to watch places like that... (I really wanted IIIx, but couldn't resist to bid on the V when I saw it) Jón
EEEP! Thanks for playing, but you are just plain wrong. QNX is not a UNIX clone, it has good posix compliance (Better than BeOS at least) but calling it a unix clone is wrong. It's a real real-time OS, designed from ground up as a real-time (and embedded) os. You don't want a hourglass showing up on your ABS breaks, do you?:)
What can I say? This sucks. Linux is nice, but for the "new" Amiga? Gee, I guess I'll just put mkLinux on a iMac and call it iAmiga! : QNX/Amiga would have been more exciting... But I'll keep an eye on the development, as I have for the last YEARS!...

Is that related to FreeBSD?

Wake me up when Transmeta/Amiga/whatever become REAL product instead of pure PR vapor! OK?

It goes into the pockets of greedy music publishers! It sucks and is very, very sad!

That kid can not act! Jarjar had more talent! :

You can see it here on Ebay. The guy hasn't had any bids yet, btw.

>It might not be Linux we all end up using, but it will be opensource. So dont waste your money on Amiga or BeOS, they'll be useless within a year.
People have been saying this about BeOS since '95!
;)
This open-source snobbery is starting to get on my nerves... (flame away)

There, I said it.
Now back to our regular program...
