Omygod, somebody made a commercial applictaion, and it does not run on Linux. The world is coming to an end! Run to the hills! Linux is the one and only OS that should be allowed on this planet! This attitude is getting on my nervers, it's really damaging for Linux. Get a life, grow up, relax, and take a walk in the woods. I sincerily hope that I can choose between more than one operating system after 10 years....
They get new couches and think they own the world? Sheesh! I like BeOS very much, but if Be's going to act like spoiled brat... ah well, guess we'll see...
This has been said here hundreds of times before: Apple wont give Be the specs for the new G3 motherboards (chipsets and stuff). Therefore Be can't update their kernel and drivers for it. It can't be political, because BeOS was already running on Apple hardware, and the same reason for the financial. And no, you can't base your only product on reverse engineering some other product, even though hackers can do it in their spare time. Sheesh!
These things are hard to find, but they absolutely rule! I stole one ancient from my scool, (replaced it with my "old" keyboard) don't worry it was on a server anyway. And another from a client. (They had stacks of keyboards nobody was using anymore, because they where "old")
I hate those plastic Keytronic which seem to come with almost every machine nowadays.
Well, I set up Linux RH 5.1 on a Celeron 350 + 256MB RAM and it's VERY nice. It hardly breaks a sweat serving on-the-fly generated webpages from Oracle 8 database. you can find it here, if you are interested
PC clone maker buys Digital Crappy BBS service buys Netscape Amusement park company buys Apple what next? What is happening to all the hip, cool & geeky companies?
...looks to me as the Navy uses "the hip os of the" day strategy. "Gee, this Linux stuff seems to be getting a lot of press lately, let's use that for our carriers" I have no idea of what the navy is using their OSes for, but why don't they just use QNX and get over it? (not to be taken too seriously, really!):)
Hello! If you look at the date it says: 3/25/98! I had very strange feeling of Deja-Vu when reading the article, and then checked the date on it. I might even have seen it on slashdot before.:)
Do you mean that only one program can play sound at any time? (Haven't tried that myself, I admit)
When virus writing will be outlawed, only outlaws will write viruses... :)

Didn't I see reports that Celerons needed some fancy soldering to run dual? Or has Intel wised up? (yeah, right)

Ever tried images.altavista.com?
Try searching for say, "Lizard" then click on one of the images, and see MS IIS choke!
