The first example you gave countered your own point. Blu-ray is a very proprietary Sony format (that wasn't standard when the PS3 was released). HD-DVD was inferior from a technical point of view but from a licensing standpoint HD-DVD was far far superior to blu-ray.
Perhaps its because when you punch that dude you risk being expelled from the gene pool due to death or damage to reproductive organs. Nature (and thus humans) are usually only violent when violence increases their chance to reproduce it has nothing to do with morality.
Tax and shipping will be at most $10. The power adapter most people will probably already have because its a phone charger. If they don't that's probably only another $10. So that's $45-$55 to get the device to your door. Not only that but these will be distributed by schools which means shipping and tax go out the window and they could get a bulk discount for chargers.
Windows? I hope they don't use windows. It would probably be pretty easy for them to use the compatibility layer they've been developing for mac over the last few years. Since OS X is unix maybe they could use the Linux kernel. My fingers sre crossed because this would mean I would no longer need windows installed on my machines.
The best solution is to have a manual overrid (that the computer cannot control) in all cars with self driving capabilities. That way if the driver notices anything funny they can go into manual mode. Of course that defeats the biggest benefit of self-driving cars you can't be sleeping, drunk ect. at the wheel.
I've seen several comments like this on this thread. Has no one on/. (of all places) seen Game of Thrones its only the first season but possibly better than Lord of the Rings. Admitidly the vast majority of content sucks but there are some very select shows that are good.
I sense sarcasm. The legislative branch doesn't actually enforce the law no but if the Obama administration publically (or privately) pushed for an investigation of this man it would happen.
Hopefully will be able to find a non-extraditing country with decent infrastructure that also respects freedom of speech. Admitidly (and sadly) that's a pretty tall order.
While this study is both shit and a water is wet study there is a pretty valid definition of "socail problems". If you don't understand how what you say (and how you say it) effects other people emotionally that would probably be considered "social problems". Its probably one of the most important skills to have. Even in the face of new technologies it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
You don't dream the future you build it. Yeah sure you had to have an idea but ideas are the easy part the hard part is implementation.
This is truely a historic day I'm actually happy I'm with AT&T.
Thanks, it was probably modded down becuase sarcasm doesn't translate well onto the Internet.
I was being sarcastic. I knew I should have posted annonymously.
In Holland, like in most of the civilized world, people don't have pistols in their nightstand.
And then you wonder why you get your iPads stolen.

I don't think thats because wikileaks lacks intelligence. Its more likely because the really secret stuff won't have *any* paper trail whatsoever.
The internet is going to get laws whether or not most people who actually use it want them or not. It's better we try to get our word in while we can.
I gleemed people who are rich are more likly to have a car which you can actually have fun driving (recklessly). Also Prius owners are douchebags.
Google Sharing it works great most of the time. I never used (or heard of) Scroogle but it would have be nice for when I don't have access to Firefox.

At least something good could come out of captchas.
I wasn't sure if the GPS was reliable enough thats why I used the word "may". You could simply plug it into a car charger for the battery issue.
Why not just use smart phones it'd be just as simple to attach the correct sensor or it may be able to use the gps most of them already have.
I'm pretty sure that building his defense/contacting people who could help him is his lawyers job.

I predict a world where Apple and Google has the best Desktop platform but can't break the stranglehold of Microsoft.
I am not an expert but from what I hear ARM has much more speed per dollar. Though ARM can't match x86 in parallelism.

This pushing closer and closer to using a VPN for everything I do online.
