Wow, just wow. WHO modded this up and WHERE did you learn math? You do know that what you are actually saying is 257 of 78 job right, at least by your math.
I mean, you didn't even do it quickly in your head before you posted? It didn't even occur to you that 78 is kinda close to 80 and that 257 is kinda close to 240 and that 80 out of 240 is 33% and that its WAAAAY different than 3.3%?
I can completely relate to this. I don't have the time to play games at home. That time is reserved for homework and I know if i start playing a game I'm going to play a lot longer than 5 minutes. Plus I've never been a big fan of 3D shooters or roll playing games. But with my Zaurus I can play Super Mario Bros 3 to my hearts content any time I have to wait for something. I'd call Zfceu one of the killer apps for the Zaurus.
Um. Can you really not tell the difference between burning a copy of a CD and shoplifting a copy from a store?
Let's look at it this way: You have a friend that has the new Radiohead CD and you goto to his/her house and say "Yo, I'm keeping this CD." What do you think your friend would say? Maybe he/she would say "Well, I can make you a copy, but I want that CD" Now you say to your friend "there is no difference" and walk out. What say your friend now?
If you really lack the mental capacity to distiguish between physically removing an object from someones possestion and making a copy of that object so that you both have one, I really don't have much more to say. I guess that is just a handicap you will have to live with.
Now to repond to your first, and less important, statement. It seems you've got a real problem with definitions. But since synonyms rarely have the exact same definitions, we will consult a thesaurus ok?
Your previous post was indeed full of logical errors, kinda of like how all of my posts are full of grammatical and spelling errors. However, I now give you the chance to correct yourself and retract in part, or in it's entirety, your previous post.
I'm not making an arguement, I'm making a point. What I'm saying is call it what it is, copyright infringement. If mincing words means using the correct words, then yes, I am mincing words.
This goes in the same vain as the feminists that claim "rape" when a musician yells "Show me your tits" at a concert. It might be thoughtless, it might even be sexual harassment. It is not rape, and no law or court in this country is going to call it that, no matter how much your ideals want them to.
Um. From my original post: Yes, downloading copyrighted materials is illegal, but it is NOT STEALING.
Notice I didn't say you shouldn't be punished for breaking the law. I even acknowledged that it is against the law. I was mearly pointing out that downloading a copyrighted song is not stealing. You didn't deprive anyone of anything physical, but you did voilate a right given to them by US law, and yes, you should be punished for that.
"which matter to pretty much no one besides those involved in the legal process and the stupidly pedantic"
Seems to me this article is all about legalities. If legalities didn't matter in this case we wouldn't have a problem now would we? How the law sees it matters quiet a great deal in this case.
When I think of stealing....
Here's a thought, when you get hauled into court the judge doesn't care what YOU consider stealing or what YOU consider copyright infringement. The judge cares what the law defines it as.
Let's go over this again. Repeat after me: "Copyright infringement is NOT stealing" "Copyright infringement is NOT stealing" Make sure you say NOT really loud. Copyright infringment is only that, copyright infringement.
In fact, if you will search the complete version of the U.S. Copyright Law, you will see, throughout all the chapters, amendments AND appendicies, the words steal nor stealing DO NOT APPEAR A SINGLE TIME.
Yes, downloading copyrighted materials is illegal, but it is NOT STEALING. There is an entirely different law that applies to stealing. If you would like to go over the US Copyright Law, all 290 pages of it are available in PDF and HTML form here
Newsflash: The only people calling it stealing are the RIAA, US copyright law _does_NOT_ refer to copyright infringement as stealing. Stop trying to make it something it's not.
Haha, you doubt your university sells addresses? Newsflash: You university sells any info about you that they legally can.
If I hadn't filled out the form explicitly forbidding mine todo so they would have sold mine. Most colleges are strapped for cash, or can always find a place that could use more, and most will do just about anything for it.

While not an "offical" rule, it is generally regarded that the FBI will not pursue a case unless at _LEAST_ $10k in damages was done. For you normal people and small businesses, this means $10k in _actual_ damages. For example, I believe credit card numbers are given a weight and it takes so many of them to get the FBI to investigate a case of a cracker stealing them. For you little people this does not include the time you wasted dealing with this. However, if you were a big business then it of course does.
As for this case, the $10k rule doesn't apply since this insane value (up to $250,000? iirc) has been placed on copyright violations. Perhaps if the FBI valued a "stolen" song on what it is actually worth we wouldn't have this problem.
On top of the insane overvaluing of copyright violations there is the fact that the law doesn't state copyright violation as theft, they didn't actually lose anything. So lets assume that a 15 song CD costs $15 (not that this is accurate). Then a stolen song from the CD should be worth $1, oh for fun we'll say it was the one good song on the album and give it a $2 value. So it would take 5000 of the best songs on 5000 cds to make the FBI even look at the case under normal circumstances.
Then one would think, wait, $10k worth of damages wasn't actually done. No one was actually deprived of anything besides what they thought they were due. So then we end up with another problem, how much are they actually worth? It gets very complicated and basiclly comes down to what we all knew all along, some is getting bought off.

Standard GPL disclaimers apply. Although
it should make a nice playable/watchable

OpenZaurus 3.2, I in know way promis it will
work for you.
Default bitrate is 40: this will result in
a 20 minute movie being about 30megs +/- 2megs.
Keep in mind this was designed to fit 2 TV shows
on a 64meg CF card. So the quality of the video
is really low at 40, you might want to up it if
you have more space
Also keep in mind I'm using -vop scale 320:240.
There's a _very_ good chance this isn't what you
want. Divx5 will _not_ maintain aspect ratio...
so you might have to change this to fit your

I have a Sharp Zaurus 5500 and I've learned its all about formatting the video correctly. I wrote a little script that lets me quickly convert/scale/re-encode TV captures to play nicely on my Zaurus. I step down the video bitrate and sound quality, scale it down to 320x240 (or if its 352x240 I just crop 16px of each side). Having it the correct resolution really speeds things up since the software doesn't have to scale it. I transcode everything to divx5, so it all plays smoothly on the Z. I watched a 2 hour movie and 2 TV episodes on my Z on the plane just a few days ago.
I know PalmOS stuff require specially formatted files and I believe the Clie comes with software to automaticly scale and format it right. Maybe RealOne just sucks like all other RealNetworks stuff?
