I have never once heard anyone ever say "Snake defeated that boss". Not once. Not Ever.

Would you expect to hear "Cloud attacked the undead Zombie, but that didn't do much, then when Tifa gave it a Phoenix Down it died"
    or
"I attacked the undead Zombie, but that didn't do much, then when Tifa gave it a Phoenix Down it died"

I would expect the first example to be the more common, despite Cloud being the primary protagonist, and your avatar for the non combat parts of the game.

Although I guess more people would say "I used Cloud to attack the undead Zombie, but that didn't do much, then when I used Tifa to give it a Phoenix Down it died"

Maybe people are thinking "I used Snake to defeat that boss", but as using Snake is required, then there is no need to say it?

Ok, so I was refuting the point that its hard to get console players to use non standard controllers, rather than your strange interpretation of what was said, but to counter your arguement a quick look on wikipedia would have told you a list of 18 games that already or shortly will be supporting the balance board - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_Balance_Board#Compatible_games or if you wanted to see a list of games that use the eye toy (theres dozens more on the Play Station Network) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_Toy#Designed_for_EyeToy Ok, so not many games use the guitar - but the games it is used for can be bought seperately and be played with a standard controller - yet most people will still buy the game with a guitar - showing that indeed people will buy a seperate peripheral (It might be bundled - but you can buy it without it being bundled too) to play with just a few games from several publishers.

Even on consoles, it's rough to convince people to play games with something other than the standard controller.

Purchased XBox Live games can be downloaded again, but with different restrictions - the first time a user downloads their purchase they are able to use it with any account on the XBox and do not have to be signed into XBox Live to play the game. Subsiquent downloads require the purchaser to be signed into XBox live to play their game. This presumably would be to stop someone buying arcade games and then downloading them on all their mates consoles, giving the mates free games, whilst still giving people some freedom to play offline

Because Microsoft have a monopoly on creating/designing XBoxes, and Sony have a monopoly on creating/designing Playstations etc so they *can* put hardware in to stop the hobbyists developing for the platform.

Nobody has a monopoly on any part of a PC gaming setup, except arguably MS for the operating system, and every PC is expected to do more than play games - allowing hobbiest development is expected from a PC.

Also PC components cost their true cost - they are not subsidised, so nobody loses money if a hobbiest develops an amazing game.

If an amazing game was developed by a hobbiest for XBox/PS3 then MS/Sony won't get their licensing fees - and would lose money on any subsidised consoles bought to play that game and that game alone.

The distance of 1.5 million kilometres that was simulated on the Canary Islands is equivalent to the distance between the Earth and Lagrange points L1 and L2. These mark specific positions in space at which it is particularly advantageous to place space telescopes. Equipped with laser terminals, telescopes such as these will in future be able to transmit far greater quantities of observation data to Earth than is possible by radio today.
