If you think that was bad, check out linux.org right now. It's probably one of the most worthless websites out there, yet it gets to sit at #1 in search results for "linux" because too many people foolishly link to it.
Right now it continually refreshes the page while asking for authentication, spawning a new window each second. I managed to escape from it with some careful mouse wrangling.
Good thing no one told the Romulans that drilling a hole to the core of the planet was completely unnecessary. They could have just lobbed the singularity anywhere near the planet and left. That's a damn powerful weapon.
It's more about not falling in line with the standard copyright propaganda. Calling infringement "piracy" is meant to evoke images of the horrors pirates have historically done, like pillage and murder.
It is a naive to believe that a major purpose copyright isn't to compensate authors.
Uh... no. Not in the US anyway. Here it is right from the US constitution,
To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries;
Notice there's nothing in there about authors needing to be compensated. If compensation is the current function of copyright, it's unconstitutional and invalid.
It is fair for authors to be compensated for their work. Why would you not agree with this thought?
It is fair for authors to be compensated for their work.
The purpose of copyright isn't to compensate authors. It exists to encourage more works to be written. If it's not doing this very well (it's not), it needs to go.
Then you have to hire guards to watch your computer, flash drive, and "clean image" at all times, then be able to trust those guards. Otherwise, one or more of those can be compromised in order to leak your key.
Yeah, I recently wrote a Greasemonkey script to adjust some things in Slashdot. When it seemed I was logged in as other people, I thought something was wrong with my script, but then I noticed I could moderate too. I thought I figured out some kickass hack until I saw your post.
Looks like you have a serious misunderstanding of the purpose of copyright at the fundamental level. You should learn a little bit more before posting in the future.
If you try to push too many packets through the cables at once they will stretch wider. Do that too much and it causes fatigue in the cable from stretching and contracting so much. This wears the cables out even faster.
Microsoft: Please compete with us on our terms??!?! Pretty please?!
Open-source: No.
Open-source's Journal. April 21th, 2009: This company is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The accumulated filth of all its EULAs and anti-competitive behavior will foam up about its waist, and Microsoft will look up and shout, "Please compete with us on our own terms!"... and I'll whisper "no."
The "update" patch monitors the network/browser for access to the special ransom website. Anyone who accesses it has their information sent along to the FBI.
I agree. I loved the book, but it's more like a long lecture (like most of Heinlein's books;-) ) than something I would want to watch in a movie theater.
If we were to vote on the next Heinlein book to make into a movie, I would vote for The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Though they would probably have to severely shorten the first half of it (the lecture half) for the movie adaptation.

And it messes up your browser (Firefox in my case) too. Check this out:

Are you suggesting that authors shouldn't have the right to choose?
Yes. See, that was easy.

But try telling that to Roman Hüssy, a 21-year-old Swiss information technology expert,
21-years old isn't old enough to be an expert at anything, unless he was some sort of child prodigy.

You just quoted an odd-numbered Star Trek, and probably the worst of the odd-numbered ones. You should be ashamed.
You can actually boot up HURD with a live CD. It's not very usable as a real system, but it's definitely not vaporware.

It was also the last words spoken in DS9.

I heard a dinosaur ran in the last US election, too.
You can't cut back on spending, you will regret this!
You are talking about something completely different than the article. The article is talking about libre free, not gratis free.
So if you want to check the filesystems on many machines would it be called a clusterfsck?
Or maybe that's what you call it when all the filesystems are damaged at the same time.

What did they do? The image is gone now and my curiosity about it is driving me crazy.

How then do you explain McDonalds's overwhelming share of the market, versus [your favorite restaurant]?
Fixed that for you.
