I guess I better get the stick out and start poking.

My servers here at work tend to do a high volume of low processor intensity transactions... therefore, more cores (and more simultanious transactions) is far more important than high speed.

Also, by shoehorning this into a 40w envelope, they're obviously going for power efficiency over horsepower. Interesting fact: power usage is one of the largest costs of a data center, and it's growing.

I truly believe that the more of these go to court, the more likely we are to see copyright reform that favors the people, because these suits and those arguing them tend to do a good job of getting in to the press just how absurd copyright law can be.

That being said, can you please all drop the crusader attitude for just a second? Perhaps you could start by not commiting felonies in contempt of the proceedings against you. I doubt you have the money to follow that felony case through to the supreme court, and in the mean time, you're only going to disenfranchise yourself to the jury and public at large.

Can we please get some defendants who are willing to act like an average citizen for the duration of their suit before going back to being a raging crusader? Think of it as taking on a secret identity to help your cause. You might actually win if you don't look like a complete social misfit to the jury.

(making the line "but he was too skilled to be driven off" extra hillarious).

He would then troll the general chat with stuff like (direct quote here):

"Yay, heroes. Go good team. Vills lose again,"

I couldn't make this shit up if I were trying.

    His grand conclusion?

in the game's chat box, users like Hunter-Killed responded, "U are a major sh--bird."

Another player added, "I hope your mother gets cancer." Yet another wrote, "EVERYONE HATES YOU."

Myers was stunned by the reaction, since he obeyed the game's rules.

"If you aren't a member of the tribe, you get whacked with a stick," he said. "I look at social groups with dismay."

What's this guy's next "research" project? Going down to the bus station and punching old ladies in the nose?

This guy wasn't doing research, he just wanted a tax write off and a grant to do nothing but sit around and be a dick on the internet.

It automatically adds my new media to its library (this is a basic WMC feature), it pulls movie posters, cast information, and all relevant metadata from IMDB... it's just all in all fantastic. I'm not looking to add another standalone program to my HTPC box, but I would be fine with adding hulu TV if it was a plugin and worked without stepping on the toes of Media Browser. The hulu site says it's optimized for WMC, but seems to indicate it is a standalone program. Does anyone have experience with it?

I saw some posts above citing lack of speed as a detracting factor in this game. I would like to disagree, and here's why: The passenger vehicle elements are there, and proper strategy might dictate riding a jeep back and forth from spawn point to objective (and to strategic flanking points near the objective), ferrying people much more quickly than they could ordinarily move. The massive scale of the maps coupled with the slow movement allows for a much larger tactical and strategic scope while the comedic elements and differing character abilities still allow for intense gun fights when you do get where you're going.

  21. I played in the first beta on Battlefield Heroes Goes Into Open Beta · · Score: 2, Interesting

The game is good. In the earlier beta it had some horrific problems with the netcode/lag correction and hit detection. Aside from that, though, it is quite fun. I would say comparisons to TF2 are somewhat deserved. It is a class based FPS with objective oriented missions. The vehicles add an extra element, from jeeps which are a simple troop transport (which the passengers can shoot from) to tanks, to airplanes (which are mostly useless unless you have a joystick as they are near impossible to control), but they do function as a fast troop transport as one person can sit on each wing. Graphically, it's nothing to write home about (they're not bad, but come on, it's web based), however the level building/character customization aspects are a very interesting aspect. Each of the classes has unique abilities the ones I remember from the first beta include "I eat gernades" which allows the heavy gunner to eat gernades thrown by the enemy to heal himself, first aid "healing auras" that heal people around you. Etc. Further, the load out options add a whole lot of strategy to the game. There are various weapons from fast firing but low accuracy, to high accuracy slow, to close range high damage. Secondary weapons add even more strategy by allowing you to use gernades for anti personal, dynamite for anti-tank/booby traps. There are some comical elements such as the ammount of knock back caused by explosions, but the strategic gameplay of capture points, and the map design were all very good. Over all, I recomend at least giving this game a shot, especially considering the price. While I never went back to the beta when they reopened, I do wish I had, it was because of time that I didn't, not because of any lacking in the game's fun factor.
