Ok. If this is some sort of standard that I missed out on, I'll accept that. I do think it's stupid though. We already have a phrase for that definition: "an 8th the size".
A 1x CD-ROM is defined as a certain transfer rate. 2x is twice that base rate. 8x is 8 times that base rate.
"Pixel" is not a defined unit of measure. Pixels can be large, as in your old 40" standard def CRT television, or small, as in the iPhone "retina display". I can think of several ways "8 times smaller" could be defined. The one that seems to make the most sense, to me, is the one that has nothing to do with multiplication.
How does one read the phrase "8 times smaller "? Initially I want to take it as 1/8th the size, but "8 times" would indicate multiplication is involed...
Not really. leetspeak is just character substitution with letters or numbers that look like the original word. It is still English as we know it and just requires the mental gymnastics to realize the substitute characters.
10 years ago, I'd have agreed with you. However, leetspeak has invented new words - perversions of standard english words in the same vein as ebonics - acronyms, and entire phrases to its vocabulary list.
N00b, pwnd (i always pronounce this with a hard P, don't you?), kekeke, pr0n, h4x0r, sUx0r...
I used to work for Radio Shack. Our store cost for the $120 monster cables was somewhere right around $32 dollars.
Given that Monoprice sells these same cables starting for about 2 bucks a pop, I would say both the store and Monster are making huge profits. Monster's income is, of course, Supplemented by suingeveryone and anyone they can think of even if it doesn't make sense.
It's still far more likely to have been linux, cosmic rays, or space creatures than it was to have been microsoft. Yet it says it BSODed (a highly MS-associated term), is tagged as "Microsoft", and has Slashdot's Microsoft icon (which, it should be noted is a broken up, darkened, uncared for window frame)... hardly neutral imagery, editing, or community interaction.
I got called crazy when I brought up this site's anti-MS pro-linux slant yesterday.
The thing was running Linux and it's stillbeing blamed on Microsoft!
I have a nice HD bay fan It works out great, because my HD bays are directly in line with my CPU heatsink, I got a couple more MHz out of my overclock upon installing this,
... I say "bring it on". The IT department at the hospital I work at is bloated, inefficient, and ineffective. A lot of it has to do with our leadership and lax corporate culture, but a lot of it also has to do with the fact that 25% of our IT department is made of nurses who have not a clue about technology, and the other 75% of it is made of technology people who know nothing about medicine/hospital work.
I can honestly say that some of the wacky decisions the IT department has made out of ignorance have negatively affected our patient care. I doubt it's killed anyone, but it has caused unnecessary delays and confusion.
Maybe he SHOULD stop hosting old versions of the site, and just link to them in google cache instead. Let her fight google. Should be good for headlines, and maybe raise some awareness about the idiocy present in copyright law.
I may be picking nits, but the DMCA makes NO specifications at all about what a company must or mustn't to when it receives a takedown notice. If I'm hosting a video which is clearly fair use, I don't have to take it down because I receive a takedown. It's just legally safer that way.
So click decline on the EULA screen. Part of the EULA says that if you decline the manufacturer is responsible for giving you a refund.

That's what makes this OK.

It will be drop in compatable with AMD server boards. At home, it will be AM3+.
Or is noob the first l33t word?
Pretty typical "let future generations deal with it" thinking. Why don't we just have Oracle fix their code?

Are we surprised? Slashdot readership and mods alike are HIGHLY anti-MS.
I've had this on my motor Droid since I got it... I love it, but why is it news?

Is there a repaired solution? I'd love to see one if you have a link. Especially if it were wide enough to fit important DVDs.
I dislike multi readers like that because every card slot shows up as a drive letter in windows. So I tend to use a USB external card reader.

But what if my real name IS Captain Jean Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise?
Remember, mods there is no "-1 disagree" and troll is not a substitute. Personally, I find this a worthy point of discussion.
Absolutely. I wanted to get a .gr domain, but I would have to be greek. Did I complain? No. I found another TLD.

Half a petabyte of which is porn.
This parent and all children (save perhaps this one) are full of so much win.
