Not that I wish any ill-will against Carmack and co., but it would certainly have been funny if he had to rock up to court, restate his motion to dismiss, at which point the judge would reply "DENIED!" and frag Carmack on the spot.
For what it's worth, the exchange rates mean virtually all games on Steam are cheaper in Australia than anywhere you could find the retail versions for. It's not that big a deal here... unless you're on dial-up.
Precisely the reason why I don't rely on GMail for anything critical. Heck I'm only using 6MB anyway - despite what they say, I still prefer cleaning out the crap.
Actually its one of the changes for Vista that I hate. I just want one overall volume control, not on a per-app basis.
There is: the left-most slider on the mixer app is for the global speaker, which affects all other audio. Change that and you change the overall volume.
Totally illegal of course, there's no two ways about it - unlike Windows, if your PC is seen running OS X there's no way to weasel out of it, but it can be done. My hardware got lucky.
Life is about doing what you love - if you're a geek, as most people probably are on Slashdot, doing what you love almost certainly involves a computer. So your statement is contradictory, implying spending time with a computer is not a life. Which century do YOU live in?
Excel has a bug, just like every other tool. Some people report not being able to replicated the bug in their version of 2007, it doesn't matter. Assuming there's a true bug somewhere, it will be fixed - life goes on as usual. What's the story exactly?
The vast majority of legal cases reach a settlement before they even set foot in the court. No-one enjoys drawn out cases anyway (apart from the lawyers).

These guys have already made a short documentary about what the Halo series has meant for humanity:
It doesn't help much that social networking sites are providing people with web-based social lives instead of *real* social lives. One could argue it's the same thing since people are still engaging with each other - I dunno. What I DO know is that I'm fucking sick to death with MySpace, Facebook and all the new networking sites that keep popping up (I'm looking at you too, Valve).

Wow. I get moded troll for an opinion that's commonly displayed in the Ubuntu forums. It's well known KDE crashes far more than GNOME, people have expressed this as such. What fucked up community are you a part of who can't take a little criticism?
to take an ample supply of cameras (with good batteries for the flash).
* Requires Windows, not even a Mac will do ...
* IE only
* Full of DRM (the reason for the first two)
* Full of ads
I just don't see how NBC could have fucked up more.
You know you're doing well as a Slashdot editor when your article's tags are:

So much love!
Yes, in the show... Eliza Dushku will run Linux. Can't afford to have her BSODing every episode can then?

The only reason I clicked on this article is 'cos I really dig the red stylesheet for BSD news here. Reminds me of strawberries.
I assume BSD has other, more useful features though.

Stallman: WTF?
Why was this marked "Troll"? It's a well known piece of history, despite what some Jobs-lovers might want to forget.
Are you honestly saying that anyone who thinks Vista is decent is a MS shrill?
Why? Is defending a MS operating system for honest reasons impossible to believe anymore?
I want Dell to report on how the Ubuntu laptops have been working out for them so far.

Nothing much, but I see you've already been marked as a troll. Slashdot is not representative of the real world.
I suppose the next version of this printer will be able to convert tentacle porn to... Oh God! /puke
No you don't.

That makes no sense.

If they can't charge you under the original accusation, they'll simply find something they CAN charge you with, to save face.
Heavens forbid they apologize for putting him through hell. Oh no, can't have that. That would be a sign of weakness.
