    For what it's worth, the exchange rates mean virtually all games on Steam are cheaper in Australia than anywhere you could find the retail versions for. It's not that big a deal here... unless you're on dial-up.

    Actually its one of the changes for Vista that I hate. I just want one overall volume control, not on a per-app basis.

    There is: the left-most slider on the mixer app is for the global speaker, which affects all other audio. Change that and you change the overall volume.

    Totally illegal of course, there's no two ways about it - unlike Windows, if your PC is seen running OS X there's no way to weasel out of it, but it can be done. My hardware got lucky.

    Life is about doing what you love - if you're a geek, as most people probably are on Slashdot, doing what you love almost certainly involves a computer. So your statement is contradictory, implying spending time with a computer is not a life. Which century do YOU live in?

    Excel has a bug, just like every other tool. Some people report not being able to replicated the bug in their version of 2007, it doesn't matter. Assuming there's a true bug somewhere, it will be fixed - life goes on as usual. What's the story exactly?

    It doesn't help much that social networking sites are providing people with web-based social lives instead of *real* social lives. One could argue it's the same thing since people are still engaging with each other - I dunno. What I DO know is that I'm fucking sick to death with MySpace, Facebook and all the new networking sites that keep popping up (I'm looking at you too, Valve).

    Wow. I get moded troll for an opinion that's commonly displayed in the Ubuntu forums. It's well known KDE crashes far more than GNOME, people have expressed this as such. What fucked up community are you a part of who can't take a little criticism?
