I have HHC (and "bronze diabetes" as a result). I'm supposed to avoid foods high in iron like the plague. That's a whole column of "healthy foods" I simply cannot eat at all, or extremely small quantities.. say, like 1 serving a week. OK, so green leafy vegetables and lean red meats are out the window.. but that means that to compensate in other areas I might have to have a higher carbohydrate load..oh, damn, can't increase carb load without increasing my insulin.. and guess what has "weight gain" as a side effect? Point here being: it can be very hard to eat a properly balanced diet AND avoiding foods that might make a condition worse AND keeping calorie intake between 2,000 and 2,500.
Interesting theory, but would you care to explain how out here in the West I can name numerous examples of shopping malls where one of the anchor tenants is a Sears, and the other is now a Walmart, Target, or Kohl's?

Sears died not because of poor locations or lack or same. They died because they were viewed as non-competitive on price and poor merchandise choices, coupled with some pretty poor marketing (especially in the case of KMart).

Even Google wasn't as insensitive with Android. Google outright says "we're not trying to replace Linux, or make Linux change what they're doing for us. We like Linux for what it is: many of us use Linux every day, and Linux drives our company's servers from top to bottom. The Linux kernel is a powerful tool; and Android is built on that tool. But please, carry on!"
Shuttleworth's built an awful lot of goodwill from the Open Source community, and to basically tell us "if you don't like it, lump it" is highly insensitive at best, and sociopathic at worst.
I disagree, personally. I actually don't mind relevant, unobtrusive advertising. I also don't mind when it's creative and interesting. The problem is so much of the ads out there (not just online, but in society at large) is neither relevant nor unobtrusive.
Google does have the right approach: targeted ads that are relevant and simple.

I work for a regional ISP, and I manage the mail servers. While we do see some traffic with [common word]@ourdomain.com, it's not always a productive attack vector. While you can pretty much expect to get spam at sales@ourdomain.com, support@ourdomain.com, and a few others, aside from a few hundred common names most spammers don't bother.
And it makes sense, if for no other reason that the first exchanger you talk to may not be the one that hosts the user information. There are some pretty large mail systems out there that the external facing MTA will accept everything and then try to route it. Secondly, more than one mail appliance out there will temporarily ban a sending IP when it detects this sort of attempt (ours will add a ban if you attempt 5 invalid RCPT TO: destinations in less than 10 minutes, on a sliding scale [the quicker they come in, the longer the ban: 5 in a single transaction is 72 hours]). I won't even touch the fact that there are honeypot MTAs out there specifically looking for this behavior, and the quickest way into one of the anti-spam databases is to try this stunt.
If they're going to go through the trouble of setting up a honeypot, you might was well give up and just shut the radio off and run 100% wired.
Or, go rogue yourself and capture all his traffic. Bonus points if you rate-limit the wireless to effectively have no bandwidth.
The local cops? If your local police department is anything like mine, they don't even send out officers to investigate real property crimes like theft anymore. They'll just laugh at your little WiFi problem.
Doubt that would work. The leecher has already demonstrated a knowledge of layer-2 attacks against 802.11, I doubt limiting your DHCP scope is going to stop them. They'll just null handshake one of your devices off the WLAN.
Except if you live on the west coast, you already have a plethora of places to charge your EV (California has the Tesla charging stations, and Oregon and Washington have the West Coast Electric Highway). Additionally, at least here in Oregon, there are plenty of places to plug in an electric vehicle in parking lots.. public EV charging stations are everywhere if you know where to look.

So, your scenario isn't an issue: I'd have parked the EV in the electric spot and plugged it in before I went in to work. Your vehicle would have at least gotten a partial charge, and it's not entirely unlikely the destination hospital has an EV parking spot.

Yes, the infrastructure isn't as complete as the gasoline refueling infrastructure. No, it's probably not a solution for everybody, some people will still need internal combustion engine vehicles for some time. As someone who has spent his entire life working at various ISPs, the answer is "yes."
