    Apparently so. Every time I see this discussed online, there are people who say things like "the telecoms shouldn't be punished for doing as the government asked", ignoring the illegality, that Qwest didn't go along, etc.

    No shit indeed. I installed my first Linux, Debian 2.1, in a VM yesterday. It's /amazing/ how bad the installer was back then (March 1999), and how far we've come. You really had to be technical and adventurous to get the thing installed, let alone configure it later.

    Wrong. It was the Pentium Pro that had poor 16-bit performance. There was a bit of a to-do about that since consumers were still on a largely 16-bit OS at that time (Windows 95), and was one reason why PPro was never all that popular on the desktop.

    Mind you, they were great at 32-bit code. ftp.cdrom.com ran on a dual-PPro and FreeBSD for several years.

    Unicomp sells a 104-key version of the Customizer that's USB-native. I'm typing on one right now. It's /slightly/ more lightly-built than the Lexmark M 3 feet away and my IBM M at home, but it's much better IMO than a standard kb.

    Advanced Placement. AP classes are high school (ages 13-18) classes with more advanced topics, aimed at kids who want to go on to university. Sometimes the classes are offered with college-credit hours for a much cheaper rate than a real college would charge.
