highway 99 around here is REALLY well lit at night, it's not appreciably brighter with your lights on
That's not the point. The point is that people can't see you so well if your lights are off. Someone could be passing someone else on the highway (if it's 2 lanes), not see you because you're running EMCON, and have a nice head-on.
I see this thoughtless behavior around here lots; some people drive with their lights off when it's raining and the sky's dark, not thinking of other people, not bright enough to get it when I flick my lights at them. The law says they must run their lights, but police have other things to do.
Poorly-documented patches at that. The ones I've looked at didn't say what the patch was meant to change, except a vague description in the bill's header. Bills should include context from the area they're modifying, instead of just where to insert it.
So far as I could tell, all the CS profs at my uni did use Windows, yes. No Mac users (this was when OS X was brand-new), but the chair did teach himself some Linux so he could teach a class. One prof proudly wrote his name with MCSE appended, ffs.
You know, you look like an utter wanker when you use all those periods. Let me introduce you to Mr. Comma: , He lives right next to your favorite key. You should also meet Mr. Semicolon, also in that area: ;
I'd say you need to take some remedial English classes.
Are you doing web applets? If not, call me crazy, but couldn't you distribute JRE 1.5.xx on your product's CD? I've seen a few commercial packages that do this.
Um. ATA100's 100 or 133 megabits/sec is much faster than the fastest hard drive. The speed advantage from SATA-150 or SATA-300 is when you read directly from the drive's cache, and caches are small, typically 8-16 MB, so it's not much help.
It's less efficient to have 2 devices on 1 IDE interface, but that's the only real advantage. Plus the smaller cables. And nice red uniforms.
Prilosec went off patent, so the maker created Nexium. When a person takes Prilosec, the body metabolizes it into the active ingredient of...Nexium. So they patented Nexium and their profits are, to an extent, protected.
O RLY? The US constitution forbids a religious test to hold office, and the 14th Amendment extends the US constitution's protections to citizens of all the states. Can you give a cite for your statement?
That said, my employment oath with the State of Kansas had "so help me God" at the end. I crossed that bit out and signed. Nobody raised a fuss.
BTDT, got a $1500 insurance settlement that went towards college. Car was still drivable, what did I care if both sides were dented from being sandwiched between $VAN_WITH_BORED_KID and another parked car?
Well, umm, you see, Gentoo isn't meant for ordinary users. You chose that distro knowing what you were in for, and now you're paying the price.
Ubuntu didn't have any problems whatsoever, neither did my Debian 3.1 install. You just chose the wrong distribution.
Enemy action.

Pray to Hastur, would you? Remember to say his name three times.
I don't see you using your real name, Mr. Tough Guy.
PS: You still write like a wanker.

Ugh, stay well away from any PC Chips product. They are cheap shite.
Reminds me of a Drew Carey joke. He and some friends were telling jokes about how big their dicks were.
"My dick is so big, it was overthrown by a military coup. It's now known as the Democratic Republic of My Dick."
That we know of.
Clamwin doesn't sit in memory and stop infections, dumbass. You're looking for AVG Free.
They aren't useful yet. Given the crowd, won't be until they're rethought.
Marketing.

Dammit, now you've got me all wanting to cry.
Thanks, mate. I didn't know about the autoremove invocation.

BRAAAAAINS!

FFS, if you're going to post make sure you know what you're talking about. Yes, I know this is Slashdot, but furrfu.
That's "Partimage Is Not Ghost".
Yup. ghost4linux (or ghost4unix) and gparted are your friends.
Or even Acronis MigrateEasy, which is only $25 at Newegg (cheap!) and runs as a livecd.
But how do you sexually arouse a firewall? "Baby, you're *so* hot!"?
I think one of my users got bit by this on 14 Feb, and no, Defender didn't stop it.
