What's the point of acquiring Tribes when they already have a modernized, almost direct port of it with better graphics? I guess they just wanted the recognizable name associated with it, but then why not just rename Fallen Empire?
What about Fallen Empire: Legions? The unofficial Tribes 4 (they couldn't get the name from Sierra) made by the same people. It ALSO plays in a browser with somewhat modern graphics. http://www.instantaction.com/
It was to diversify so they don't die at the first sign of increased pressure from intel.
ATI's Graphics cards are now extremely competitive with nVidia's, especially for the price point.
Really? Neversoft invented guitar controllers and the music game genre?
I'm pretty sure they had to pay Konami a not insignificant amount in royalties to be able to make their games.
The examples there DO have hard lines, I don't know what you're looking at. TF2 doesn't look hand drawn at all, just stylistically proportioned, with shiny lighting/reflections and simple textures with few colors.
No, actually Team Fortress 2 (and possibly Battlefield: Heroes, I haven't really looked into it)is not cel shaded.
Although it does look cartoonish much like cel shaded games, it doesn't have the hard outlines or 2d appearance of those games.
What it actually uses is a process called "phong shading" along with purposely cartoon style models and simple textures.
I happen to have precisely the same CPU as you and after opening those sites, ONE of the cores was at 19% (this includes other things running in the background, as well as an extra slashdot tab) and it only used 85 megs of my RAM, which compared to Firefox is 4 megabytes less.
.
That's what all this newfangled hardware is for, to use. If you have a relatively modern computer 200 MBs should be around 5-10% of your RAM, heck itunes and my anti-virus both use more resources than chrome.
The titles are something of a mistranslation more than anything.
The final was intended to mean something closer to A Fantasy of Finality or Apocalyptic Fantasy,
which makes sense because you are saving the world from some life-ending catastrophic event in every game.
Is this why I host LANs where we play these exact games with reasonable frame rates on 3 year old computers that cost 600 dollars when they were purchased? Doom III even at the most insane graphics.
This hits close to home because of recent events that have gone on at my school in the name of protection from cyber-bullying. One person created a group with the name of another student on Facebook, which constitutes cyber-bullying according to their new rules sent though the state. Even though the person whom the group was about didn't have a Facebook account, the creator of it was expelled, and most members of the group (at least 20) were suspended pending a third party hearing (to see if they get sent to alternative school, or any other punishment). All in the name of cyberbullying several honors students have been suspended (or worse) for clicking an accept button, even though many of these people join groups on reflex, and never participated in the somewhat limited, non harassing conversations of the group. It really makes me angry that the district believes it can control what goes on outside of the school on private property with no carry over into the campus.
Sounds like a good idea but, atleast where I'm from (Texas), you aren't required to take the class in which Sex Ed is taught (health) until the second semester of your senior year, by which time you're probably no longer a minor. Texas might be the exception in this case though.
I'd have to disagree... I first played Quake 1 just this past summer (Right after I had just played Half Life 2) while getting out of my wow induced single player game slump, and I must say it is still a great game. =)
I would obviously never achievement whore.
Damnit, hit Submit instead of Preview.

We can lower the output of other energy sources whenever it isn't needed, wind comes whenever it damn well pleases.

Having an identity crisis now?
Opera 9.5 comes with a built in script blocker, which in my opinion is alot more robust and useful than the firefox plugin.
Maybe.

Yes, the students must first learn Monkey Kung Fu before they can truly catch up.

www.esnips.com is very similar to what you're describing, although it is a tad lacking in content currently unless you like club music.
